The interior of the restaurant was rustic, with brown wood wall and tables. Metal gas station signs and memorabilia was displayed as artwork on the walls, and hung from the high wood-beamed ceilings. There was a gift shop selling souvenirs, but I did not take time to browse.
It was a Sunday evening and there were only a few tables occupied in the large restaurant . The hostess escorted us to a table by the window overlooking the creek. It was then that I noticed the long, cafeteria style tables in the room. It seemed that the restaurant was set up to accommodate large groups of people.... or made strangers sit together. The restaurant is also reportedly a stop for bus tours, so they are set up to accommodate large groups of people.
We each ordered a glass of house wine while we perused the menu. The server bought our wine and then returned with a bag of rolls. She said that they throw rolls there, but she took the rolls out with a pair of tongs and gave them to us. The small rolls were warm and tasted good. She returned one more time and offered another roll, but did not return to offer rolls for a third time, even though she was not busy.
The specialties of the house are steaks and catfish. The menu includes a variety of steaks, priced between $15 to $20. There are Smokehouse Delights, including pork spare ribs, beef brisket and hickory smoked steaks. There is also typical menu fare, including hamburgers, chicken, shrimp and more.
My dining companion ordered the catfish fillets ($13.95) and I ordered the Rib-eye Steak, which was on special for $15.95. The salad bar was $2.95 extra, so I added it on, but my companion did not. The meal also came with a choice of potato, so I chose the baked sweet potato.
The long salad bar was on the far side of the large room. The bowl of lettuce at the front end of the salad bowl was nearly empty. I tried to catch the eye of the attendant, who was standing around and doing nothing. She did not look my way, so I scraped the bottom of the bowl for a small amount of lettuce. The rest of the salad bar was pretty standard. I filled by plate with beets, cucumbers and some other fresh vegetables.
I had just finished my salad with the meals arrived. The plates of food were filled with generous portions. My companion received two large catfish fillets and my plate was crowded with a large Rib-eye Steak, potato and vegetables. We both through the quality of the food was good, but we could only eat about half of what was served. Smaller portions for lower prices would have been more to our liking.
Overall, the experience was good but not great. The restaurant is set up for large groups and would make a great place for a party. Fall Creek Steakhouse is a good place for a hearty meal, with a menu of Country and American Food.
Fall Creek Steakhouse is located at 997 State Highway 165 in Branson, Missouri 65616. The phone number is 417-336-5060.
The Belgian Waffle and Pancake House is another family-friendly restaurant in Branson.
