Before you begin though, you should give the den a good, thorough cleaning. Not only will you get rid of the dust bunnies hiding under the couch, but you can also look at the different areas where you can add some Fall color.
The following are but a few ideas of what you can do to change your den to Fall:
TIP #1: TO CHANGE YOUR DEN TO FALL
Let's start with the furniture. If you wanted to go a bit on the expensive side, you can consider purchasing or making some throws to cover your furniture with.
You would be surprised at how big a difference just changing that one thing can make. If you don't want to go that route, you can maybe just get some throw pillows and accent the colors you want to use in redecorating.
TIP #2: TO CHANGE YOUR DEN TO FALL
If you are going to get some throw pillows, why stop there? You can get a coordinating throw rug, or rugs, and curtains to expand on your decorating theme.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money you can find some nice stuff at Flea Markets or Yard Sales. Sometimes you can bargain with the host and get an even better bargain.
TIP #3: TO CHANGE YOUR DEN TO FALL
The larger items are one thing, but it is sometimes the small details that can make a big difference too. If you have a fireplace, you can make or buy a nice Fall centerpiece for the mantel.
Add some colorful candles to either side and you can create a beautiful setting. If possible you can change the pictures in the den to more Fall-like prints.
If you have a coffee table, the possible decorations that you can use run from grouping together simple tea light candles, dried floral arrangements, extravagant centerpieces, to setting out a bowl of mixed nuts with the appropriate utensils such as a nutcracker and nutpicks.
TIP #4: TO CHANGE YOUR DEN TO FALL
Once the rest of the den is redecorated, have a look at your lamps. You can possibly see about buying some new lampshades in a coordinating color, or change to a lower wattage of bulb for a softer, warmer atmosphere.
If you have a lighting outlet store or warehouse near you, you can find lampshades in many different styles and sizes. Be sure to measure for what size lampshade you will need.
While you are in the store look for some new finials to hold the shade in place. You can find them in so many varieties that finding ones for your Fall decorating won't be difficult.
TIP #5: TO CHANGE YOUR DEN TO FALL
Once you have completed your decorating, step back and give your den a good look-over. If there is anything else that you can add, and you have the room to, go ahead and add something extra. For instance you could make or buy some dried, or artificial floral swags to go over the doorway(s) for a little splash of color.
If your fireplace accessories are worn out, and since Fall is the season to start using them, now might be a good time to get a new set. You can change as much or as little as you would like.
It's not too difficult to change your den to Fall.
