Fall Fair

Eric Hubbard
Across the cornfield he ran

Her right beside

Holding tight to her hand

Both bright eyed.

To the edge of the woods they went

Hand in hand

Pausing and sniffing they catch a scent

And hear the band.

They ran even harder now

Breathing deep

Sweat glistens on their brow

And time began to creep.

Into their view the fair did come

Smiling with delight

Their hearts beating like a drum

At this new sight.

He held her closer and tighter then

Her gentle hand

Was so very soft, on his skin

The feeling grand.

The cool night air filled their lungs

The love knew no bounds

The story of their life had begun

On the fall, fair grounds.
