Fall fashion is on my mind. And it's no wonder, with the great looks and fashion concepts that will be making their way into our wardrobes, makeup, and hairstyles this fall. It's not too early to incorporate the new looks into your wardrobe. I'm looking forward to trying out these great new looks as the fall season approaches. They're based on color blocking, modern romanticism, and eclectic blends of menswear and lace, classy and casual, and frilly and edgy.
Color blocking. This trend is not for the fashionably shy. Color blocking means a bold mix of solid colors. You may see a neon orange top paired with a long, skinny red skirt. Or you may see geographic prints with a mix of warm and cool colors on the same fabric. The idea is a mash-up of bold hues that might not otherwise fit together. The key to making this look work is in matching the intensity of the shades and keeping the look sleek and modern. You'll find color blocking in hair, too, with cool base colors and large chunks of warm, intense highlights thrown in.
Modern romanticism. I love this style. It's sleek and modern menswear pants, with a surprising billowy top. It might be a lace cami peeking out from under a menswear blazer, or a gauzy skirt paired up with a chunky, comfy sweater. Shimmery maxi skirts look great with a soft, oversize sweater. Keep an eye out for the return of the fedora, thigh-high skirt slits, and sultry, smokey eyes.
Eclectic makeup. This fall, there's something for everyone when it comes to makeup. Think smokey eyes, with a metallic shimmer. Bright red lips and large, dark sunglasses add an air of mystique to the fedora hat. Nude lips are back in a huge way - it's easy to wear if you keep your lip color within a shade or two of your natural lip shade. Wear a matte color for the most subtle effect. For those seeking something totally new, try a monochromatic look with eyes, cheeks, and lips all in the same peachy-brown hue. If that's not glam enough, line your lids with shimmery gold liner and apply two coats of mascara for mile long lashes. Eyebrows should be well groomed, filled in, and not too skinny.
Hair. Hair is straight and sleek once again, so bring back your flat iron. Or curl just the bottom five or six inches of your long hair in loose waves for a romantic, lived in look. A loose braid will keep you cool in the summer sun and chic in the fall coolness. Ponytails are low, sleek, and super-straight this fall. Deep side parts add sophistication to any hair style. See your hair stylist for the best ways to help you incorporate the fall styles into your look.
Accessories. We all know that accessories pull the outfit together and complete it. This fall, watch for heavily studded bags, bad-girl leather jackets, and thigh high boots. High-heeled oxfords and loafers add a touch of class to any look. Just remember, don't pile on too many accessories or you'll get lost in your look. Mix and max edgy pieces with girly, romantic pieces to keep you from looking too hardcore and tough.
Overall, choose the fashion pieces that you love. The confidence you wear is the best fashion accessory there is. And it doesn't cost a thing.
