According to vogue.com, strong, architectured eyebrows were hot on the runways, many colored in pastel blue or bright colored orange. While I wouldn't recommend wearing Irish green eyebrows to your next business meeting, you CAN achieve a tasteful version of this trend. Ask your stylist or esthetician to keep your eyebrows fuller, and not too skinny, with a strong arch. Fill brows in with a brow powder or pencil for the strong, yet professional image. Save the funky colors for the club where anything goes and keep your brows the focal point with a nude face. .
Unfortunately, lips continue to be vampy-trampy in dark, dark shades of smudgey black and midnight. If you must, dab on dark lipstick with your fingertips to achieve that messy, just bitten look, keeping in mind that dark shades will age you and make your lips look smaller. Keep the look tasteful by opting for a deep burgundy lip stain with just a hint of clear gloss in the center. Better yet, skip the vamp look altogether and head in the opposite direction.... the modern red lip. A red lip is always glamorous and elegant when paired with a nearly-nude face. Make it up to the minute with a glittery shade (but not too shimmery for office wear) and sharp, well-defined corners.
If you're getting a little tired of summer bronzers, get ready for a fresh, fall face. Skip the shimmer and reach instead for a tawny or peach blush. Light brush it on the apples of your cheeks for a slightly flushed yet totally fresh appearance. Blend well!
According to sephora.com, purples and plums are the all around go to color this fall. Try it in deep colors for eyes, nails, and lips, just not all at once! Pick a feature to highlight with this great color. My choice - a deep purple eyeliner that makes brown and green eyes pop or a flawless plum manicure. Also look for purple in mascaras, eye shadows, and lip glosses. Keep your eyes peeled, as the runways pointed to an orange comeback as well.
My favorite fall trend is hair. Big,big, texture-y, messy, sexy hair. Think of messy updos, spikey buns, even a sloppy side pony and styles that point to bedhead, top-down, roll-in-hay, morning after hair. Hair color will be strong, pure and beautiful, but solid tones. Sadly, highlights will be taking a hiatus from the runway, although I suspect most trend-loving folks won't be ready to put away their sun-streaked tresses just yet.
Trends and fashion are ever-changing, always-evolving, and super fun. But the best style for you is the one that makes you feel beautiful and confident when you approach your bathroom mirror. Just pick and choose those beauty trends that suit you.
