Nashville

Nashville hosts the Southern Festival of Books on Oct 8-10, a 3-day literary festival celebrating the written word. It is free and open to the public. With over 200 authors in town, you can get a chance to meet America's foremost writers in various genres. There will be cooking (showcased by authors of the latest cookbooks), music and special events for children.
Georgia
Helen
Sep 9 - Oct 31, 2010
Festhalle
The biggest fall party in the south is Oktoberfest in Helen, a town created to look like a Bavarian Alps village right here in NW Georgia. The Oktoberfest celebration is almost two months long, beginning on the 2nd Thursday of September. Festhalle is party central; bands play here throughout the day. The Miss Oktoberfest 2010 Pageant will be held October 2 at 1:00 PM.
You can start your Christmas shopping at the many specialty shops in town. To escape from the crowd, venture ten minutes away from Helen to enjoy a quiet lunch at the Old Sautee Store, a place that specialize in "olde fashioned quality." Nature lovers would love the hiking trails in nearby Chattahoochee National Forest.
North Carolina
New Bern
MumFest, Oct 9-10, 2010
Every October, New Bern comes alive when more than 80,000 people descend upon the historic city's downtown and waterfront to celebrate the fall festival MumFest. Interactive musical show, bands playing music from blue grass, country, gospel, to rhythm and blues, and street performers, clowns and magicians will fill your day with fun and excitement.
Other attractions include a boatshow on the waterfront at Union Point Park, the King BMX Stunt Show, dance groups, K-9 and retriever field demonstrations. Also on this special weekend, you can enjoy free admission to see the beautiful mums in full bloom at Tyron Palace Historic Sites and Gardens.
Florida
Apalachicola
Seafood Festival, November 5-6, 2010
The oldest Seafood Festival in the state of Florida can be found at Apalachicola. This year, the historic town holds its 48th annual seafood festival at Battery Park in downtown Apalachicola. It is a two-day event that includes a 5k Redfish Run, a parade, Oyster Eating and Oyster Shucking, the Blessing of the Fleet, Cooking Contest, and arts and crafts. If you are looking for antiques, fabulous seafood, especially shrimp and oyster, this charming town has the answer. You will be mesmerized and will be planning for your next trip.
Daytona Beach
Biketoberfest, October 14-17, 2010
Daytona Beach celebrates Biketoberfest, their version of Ocktoberfest, in style, the Harley way. When these motorcycle riders cruise into town, it is a sight to behold. Take a scenic ride to Ponce Inlet and unwind at Inlet Harbor marina with an evening of reggae and rum. Ponce Inlet, a neat little town with "Old Florida" charm, is about 20 minutes south of Daytona Beach.
