Fall Festivals in Southeastern Pennsylvania, September, 2010

Take to the roads of Southeastern Pennsylvania this autumn for festivals that celebrate those sunny, crisp days made golden with flaming foliage, fields laden with ripe pumpkins and trees heavy with juicy red apples.The following Festivals dedicated to the arts, wine tasting, apple harvests and family oriented festivities will be held across Bucks and Chester counties.

Falls Township Annual Family Festival, Falls Township Community Park, 9125 Mill Creek Rd, Levittown, Bucks County, Sat., Sept. 11, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Annual Family Festival will feature fireworks, live music, a hypnotist, food vendors, puppet show, a Children's Carnival, rides, games and demonstrations, and a Strolling Magician. Chadds Ford Days, Chadds Ford, Delaware County, September 12-13, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Enjoy two fun-filled days featuring artists, crafters and food by local restaurants. Demonstrations and re-enactors will feature beekeeping, canning, colonial clothing, gunsmithing, hand-carved wooden bowls, paper making, pottery and weaving. Find directions to the Fairgrounds here. 18th Annual Doylestown Arts Festival, Sept. 11-12, 2010, 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Doylestown, Bucks County, State & Main Streets. The Doylestown Arts Festival is a juried festival hosting more than 150 exhibitors of crafts, photography, furniture and jewelry. Doylestown's largest event of the year, it includes a food court, scarecrow making tent and live entertainment, ranging from solo acts to rock, pop, folk, big band and children's music. The Univest Bike Race Grand Prix Race will also take place that weekend around the perimeter of the Festival. Free parking is available at the Bucks County Courthouse. 24th Annual Mushroom Festival, Kennett Square, Chester County, Sept. 10, 11 and 12. Kennett Square in Chester County is referred to as "The Mushroom Capital of the World," producing more than 51% of the nation's mushroom crops. Each year the mushroom is celebrated at its Annual Mushroom Festival, a two-day street fair featuring cooking demonstrations, farm tours, music, children's rides and a variety of entertainment. The festival opens on Friday, September 10, with the Community Parade up Broad Street, with float prizes being awarded. The Old Fashioned Carnival runs Friday evening, late Saturday afternoon/evening, and Sunday afternoon. Other activities include an antique car show and an "Afternoon at the Races," sponsored by the Kennett Fire Company in the American Legion Building. 16th Annual New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival, New Hope, Bucks County, Sept. 26-27. The historic, quaint village of New Hope situated on the Delaware River will host the annual New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival, a juried event featuring the works of over 150 artists and artisans. Exhibitors line North Main Street, East and West Randolph Streets and the PNC Bank parking lot. A weekend of live music and food will accent the festival. This juried event will award prizes in fine arts, fine crafts, jewelry, photography and Best in Show. Brandywine Valley Wine Trail Harvest Festival, Chester County Wineries, Sept. 26-27, Oct. 3-4. An event so huge it is spread out over two weekends, eight wineries take part in the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail Harvest Festival. During the harvest, the wineries host picnics, live music, grape stomping competitions, hayrides through the vineyards, BBQs, wine tastings and tours. Passports to this event can be purchased on line here or at the wineries. Passports are valid September 25 through December 30, 2010, and allow for tastings at all eight member wineries. Participating wineries are the Black Walnut, Chaddsford, Krentz Creek, Paradocz Vineyard, Patone Cellars, Penn Woods, Stargazers Vineyard and Twin Brook Winery.
