The first Festival is the Yellow Festival at Stone Mountain Park. Stone Mountain Park is right outside of Atlanta. It is about a twenty five minute drive from downtown Atlanta. The Yellow Festival at Stone Mountain Park usually takes place every year in August. This event is filled with lots of great activities for the family. The Yellow Festival has many art activities for the children such as pumpkin carvings, coloring, and getting their face painted. There are music and entertainment ranging from country music to R&B. Some areas of the park have booths for artists and vendors to displaying their art work and products. The Yellow Festival also has a wide range of tasty food ranging from hamburgers and hotdogs to funnel cakes and their awesome kennel corn popcorn (my personal favorite). The children would love it!
Another fun festival in metro Atlanta is the Old Milton Country Fair in Alpharetta Georgia. Alpharetta is about 30-40 minutes from downtown Atlanta. The Old Milton Country Fair will take place in September. This Fair celebrates Georgia's rich history. The old Milton Country fair incorporates the old fashioned way of life with historic crafts. There are also demonstrations on blacksmithing and soap making projects. Families can pan for gold and learn about life and culture in the mid-1800s. There will also be barbeque vendors, contests and live music. The arts and crafts include the following: pottery, jewelry making, exquisite paper art, stone carving, Victorian style photographer, quilted art, and etc. The Old Milton Country Fair has a variety of contests such as Blueberry Pie Eating Contest, Watermelon Eating Contest, Pickle Eating Contest, Hula Hoop Contest, Tom Sawyer Raft Building Contest, Huck Finn Treasure Hunt, Dunking Booth Fun and the Tug 'O War Contest.
The third festival is the North Georgia State Fair at Jim Miller Park. Jim Miller Park is located in Marietta, Georgia. Marietta is roughly 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta. The North Georgia State Fair takes place in late September and early October. This festival is filled with lots of fun activities and entertainment for the family. Some of the featured highlight events for the fair are the Flower Show/Non-Commercial Exhibits, the Fair Beauty Pageant, and The Blue Ribbon Affair (Arts, Crafts, and Classic Car Show). The festival is an added treat for the family.
Atlanta has wonderful fall festivals for the family. The autumn festivals and state fairs incorporate the themes of Georgia's rich culture and history. Isn't it time for you to check out the cool festivals and fairs that metro Atlanta has to offer?
