The scenic 76 mile drive through Pennsylvania's Heritage condor, may be considered the perfect afternoon family drive for those who are seeking to view the Western fall foliage. This highway is the first Transcontinental highway in the united states. The tour is filled with many local historic sites, as well as bountiful fall foliage to be enjoyed. Your drive begins in Irwin, Westmoreland County, and takes you East on Route 30 leading you through some of the most beautiful, bountiful fall foliage to be found in this area. 10 miles west of Bedford, Pa, you'll discover the scenic Shawnee State park. This is the perfect place to relax and take a break from driving or to enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch with the family. A few miles past the State Park you'll arrive at Coral Caverns, which just happens to be the only fossilized coral reef cavern known to be in existence. All along this trip you'll be treated to vibrant fall foliage. The Pocono Mountains in California, is another wonderful spot to view falls bountiful foliage. This area has seven very large state parks and encompasses an overwhelming 76,000 acres of foliage that is transformed during the fall months into glorious displays of brilliant color. Your tour of the Pocono's begins on Route 6. This road will take you through some of the most scenic and beautiful mountain regions in the state. And if you pay close attention you just might get to glimpse one of the huge black bears that are known to frequent this area, or even a turkey or a giant beaver.
Torrey Pines, in Southern California, is known for the unique, twisty maritime chaparral that grows in this area and no where else on earth. The fog rolling in off the nearby sea gives a unique and slightly eerie feel to the scenery in this area. But it is still known to be one of the most beautiful places in this region to glimpse some of falls vibrant foliage.

Afterwards take a short walk down Lombard Street, which is known as the crooked street, for more views of the amazing effects of fall on this wonderful city. The west is alive with color during the fall and that draws hundreds of visitors in every year.
