Fall and Halloween Activities in Augusta, Ga

Leslie Reese, Nutritional Educator
The cooler weather that marks the beginning of Fall usually hits our area of Augusta, Ga about October. Once that crisp air hits it makes me think of Halloween and Fall Festivals. If you are looking for Fall and Halloween Activities in the Augusta, Ga area that are geared toward family then some of these suggestions should work.

2010 schedule:

Library Activities

Looking for something both educational and entertaining, then check out Chad Crews Halloween Special to be held October 28th at 4pm at the Evans Library.

If you struggle at making crafts, but do not want this trait to rub off on your children then you may want to check out the Halloween Crafts for Children activity that is held from 3:45 - 5 pm Wednesdays at the Maxwell Branch Library.

If you wish to take your children to an innocent Halloween Party where they can wear their costumes, play games, and make crafts then join in on October 30th from 2 - 4 pm at the Augusta Library.

Outside Activities

If you like to hike and look for animals, then you may want to check out the Spooky Full Moon Hike to be held October 22nd from 9 - 11 pm at Phinizy Nature Swamp. There is a small fee of $10 for nonmembers.

The Graystone Ranch Wildlife Education Center has hiking trails, animals, pumpkin patch, hay maze, and hay rides. After dark, you can join them in the Haunted Forest as well. Weekend passes are $10.

A little further south in Louisville is Kackleberry Farm. They have a very wide variety of activities that includes a corn maize, farm animals, kiddie korral, korn kannon, hayrides, pig races, pedal cart track, jumping pillow, and pumpkin patch. Admittance costs $11.

If you are looking for some fall fun close to home, then visit the newly opened Maize at Steed's Dairy. They have a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, corn maize, and hay rides. Admittance is $12 for adults and $7 for children.

My family and I have been to the Maize at Steed's Dairy twice already this season and we are looking forward to more fall activities soon.
