Background:
The Mycenaeans were the peoples that lived in what today is referred as, mainland Greece. The Mycenaeans originated without true explanation, as historians put it. Historians have not found any evidence which gives us a clue to the exact development of how these people formed over time to become the eminent Mycenaeans, a true loss, but they have fabricated a hypothesis saying that they spawned around 1600 B.C.E. Their culture was one that greatly influenced the next descendant of the Mycenaeans, the people of Archaic Greece.
Mycenaean culture derived (technically by stealing an cultural diffusion) from Minoan Crete, an island off the Anatolian Peninsula, in which they later conquered and destroyed at around 1450 B.C.E. The culture helped make Mycenae a distinguished civilization among many, luring many nomads and people, desiring a new beginning. Mycenae rose among civilizations at one point in time, feeding of profits from trade, becoming a major center of trade.
Analysis:
There is a mark in history, referred to as the Dark Age, which took place around 1200 - 1000 B.C.E. The "Dark Age" was a period in time which signified a downfall of many civilizations following a set of specific causes. The Dark Age brought upon poverty and a loss of knowledge to the civilized world. There were many events which took place that led to this infamous period of time, the main one being, a change in trade routes. Historians state that this was caused by the Mycenaean fall, and Egypt's control over Nubia lost. As I already stated, Mycenae was the center of trade at that period in time, having control over all the nearby trade routes. Since Mycenae controlled the trade routes, it helped to flourish the economy for all the countries it bargained with, setting the foundation to prosperity for all civilizations.
Eventually due to hardships within Mycenae, caused by its aggressive behavior, war and conflict was present throughout the end of Mycenae's, soon-to-be-gone, life. Not only that but, due to Egypt losing control of Nubia, a major trading civilization, trade routes changed and became unstable for the time being. Once the trade routes changed, it led to the downfall of the famous Mycenaeans. Mycenae fell due to this change since, at that moment Mycenae was at its worse, barely able to maintain its immensely large population. This event was the symbol of the commencing Dark Age.
The fall of Mycenae, was related to other events in the region for the reason that it was the center of trade. Many civilizations around Mycenae entered a state of decline at the same time it fell, such as Phoenicia. The events that took place, after the fall, in each civilization were almost like a domino effect; starting of first with the death of trade routes, then the loss of communication between civilizations. Lastly, ending at the civilization falling apart in anarchy*. These series of events were followed by most civilizations which is the very reason why the fall of Mycenae was similar to what was happening in the region.
