Typical fall weather means cooler temperatures, windy weather and warmer clothing. For the gal who has combination skin you could end up feeling greasy, dry or chafed under your fall sweaters. Use our smart fall skin care tips for combination skin to get your skin ready for harsher winter weather that follows.
Analyze Your Skin
After your next bath or shower, analyze your skin. Take note of any dry patches and oily patches that are on your body. Knowing which parts of your face and body are oily will help you when choosing your fall skin care products. Examine your face in a magnified mirror. Scaling, flaking skin is a sign of dryness. Look for shimmery patches too. These are oily patches. Typically, a combination face has a oil in the "T-Zone." This zone is in the shape of "T" above the eyes and down the bridge of the nose.
Replace Skin Care Products
Ditch the fruity, fragrance filled summer shower gels and buy fragrance free products. Select a cleanser for combination skin. If you cannot find one, then look for a cleanser that treats the skin type that is most dominant on your face. You also need to choose a moisturizer that will give your skin some sun protection and keep it moisturized without feeling too greasy. Oil-free hypoallergenic moisturizers are best for your skin type. Select a moisturizer that contains an SPF 15 or higher. Even though summer is over, your face and hands will need some sun protection.
Establish a Routine
Use warm water when showering or bath. Hot water can dry out already dry skin or trigger oil producers to work overtime in your skin. Shower twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. After cleansing your face and body with a gentle cleanser, pat your skin dry with a towel. Moisturize your body from the shoulder down with a body moisturizer. From the neck up, moisturize your body with an oil-free facial moisturizer.
Fall skin care tips for combination skin are simple to use. With regular daily skin care, you will breeze through fall and into winter without too many skin problems. Drink lots of water to help your skin stay hydrated during nights indoors with the heater running.
