Fall Songs for Preschool Students

Songs About Leaves, Scarecrows, Fall Colors and More

Michelle S
Preschool students will enjoy singing these fall songs as they learn about the season of autumn.

The Leaves are Falling Down

This song is sung to the tune "The Farmer in the Dell" and celebrates the beautiful colors of autumn.

The leaves are falling down
The leaves are falling down
Red, yellow, green, and brown
The leaves are falling down

Raking Leaves

"Raking Leaves" is an active song that can be sung to the tune of "The Grand Old Duke of York."

I like to rake the leaves (raking motion with hands)
Into a great big hump (pretend to pile leaves)
Then I move back a bit
Bend my knees and jump!

The Floppy Scarecrow

"The Floppy Scarecrow" can be sung to the tune of "Sing a Song of Sixpence." Children will enjoy dancing like a scarecrow with it's floppy arms while singing.

The Floppy, floppy scarecrow
Guards his fields all day.
He waves his floppy, floppy hands
To scare the crows away!

Five Little Leaves

This fingerplay will also teach kids to count down from five to zero.

Five little leaves so bright and gay
(Hold up five fingers.)
Were dancing about on a tree one day.
(Dance in place.)
The wind came blowing through the town,
(Sway with the wind.)
And one little leaf came tumbling down.
(Gently tumble to the ground.)

(Continue with four leaves, down to zero.)

Leaves are Falling

Sing this song to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

Leaves are falling round the town
Watch them fall right on the ground
Autumn's coming, it is true
Then comes winter just for you
Leaves are falling round the town
Falling, falling all around.

Fall is So Much Fun

Sing "Fall is So Much Fun" to the tune of "The Farmer in the Dell" and teach kids about the characteristics of fall at the same time.

Fall is so much fun,
Fall is so much fun,
I like to see the leaves fall down,
Fall is so much fun.

The leaves turn brown and red,
The leaves turn brown and red,
I like to see the colors change,
The leaves turn brown and red.

The air is crisp and cool,
The air is crisp and cool,
I like to dress in nice warm clothes,
The air is crisp and cool.

Soon the snow will fall,
Soon the snow will fall,
Then the season will be done.
Soon the snow will fall.
