This series takes a look into the lives four professional women. We first have Lindsay Boxer who works in homicide at a police department and has recently risen to the rank of lieutenant and was once married. She is currently working on a case involving a serial killer. Then there is Jill Barnhart, who is a hard nosed assistant district attorney. Her most recent court case is proving to be quite difficult.
Next up is Claire Washburn who is married and currently works as a medical examiner. Last but certainly not least we have Cindy Thomas who has a career as a crime reporter and who is having problems with her love life.
All four of these women live in San Francisco, California. They look to each other for help in order to advance in their cases. Eventually they begin to aid each other in their personal relationships as their bonds deepen.
"Women's Murder Club" stars Angie Harmon, Paula Newsome ("Reign Over Me"), Linda Park ("Raines"), Aubrey Dollar ("Point Pleasant"), Tyrees Allen ("Day Break"), Laura Harris ("Dead Like Me"), Rob Benedict ("Threshold") and Rob Estes ("CSI: Miami"). "Women's Murder Club" is executive produced by Elizabeth Craft, Sarah Fain, James Patterson, Brett Ratner ("Prison Break") and Joe Simpson ("Nick & Jessica's Tour of Duty").
Will "Women's Murder Club" do well for ABC? Let's look where the network placed this drama in their lineup. It goes against two new shows premiering this season as well as a returning series, "Friday Night Lights" on NBC. It airs right before the comedy drama, "Men In Trees". While I am not familiar with any of these novels by James Patterson (I've since discovered that they are very popular), I found the premise of the series incredibly interesting. I like the fact that they all come from different fields of work and come together to find out what sort of information the other might have. They could take each character in all sorts of different directions. James Patterson executive produces this series and I'm sure the writing will be of high quality otherwise he wouldn't be attached to this project. ABC might have a winner here. Let's hope fans of the novels along with people who aren't familiar with the books, tune in. "Women's Murder Club" will premiere on Friday, October 12th at 9:00pm/8c on ABC.
