CBS will be premiering the drama "Cane" on Tuesday, September 25th at 10pm et/pt. This one hour show features a large cast of characters that are sure to keep viewers engrossed from one episode to the next. Let's see what audiences will have to look forward to with "Cane".

This one hour drama revolves around the Duque family who are Cuban-American and live in Florida. They run successful businesses that involve rum and sugar. The head of the family is Pancho who will eventually have to bow out from the businesses due to his health. Who will run this empire? We have his son Frank who likes to take chances and is extremely spontaneous. He wants his father to take up a profitable offer to buy their fields of sugar by their rivals who known as the Samuels. Then we have the more level headed son Alex, who was adopted into the family when he was young and has now married Isabel which is Pancho's daughter. Are you with me so far?

Then we have a third son Henry who wants nothing to do with the businesses. Pancho's daughter Isabel who is also Alex's wife decides to choose motherhood over a career by raising her three children, Katie, Artie and Jamie. I can't of course leave out the matriarch of the Duque family who is played by the talented Rita Moreno. She is the glue that holds (or at least tries to)the entire family together.

"Cane" has an amazing cast of actors which includes Jimmy Smits, Hector Elizondo, Nestor Carbonell ("Lost and "Suddenly Susan"), Rita Moreno, Paola Turbay, Eddie Matos ("General Hospital"), Michael Trevino ("The Riches"), Lino Esco, Samuel Carman, Alona Tal ("Veronica Mars") and Polly Walker ("Rome"). "Cane" was created by Cynthia Cidre who also executive produces this drama.

So does "Cane" have a chance? Well first off it is going against "Boston Legal" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", both great shows. "Cane" will air after CBS's "The Unit". In May, CBS ordered 13 episodes of "Cane" so I'm sure they feel it has some staying power. I like the premise especially where both sons each have a different outlook on life. They're like night and day. You know right there it is going to be a struggle for control over the businesses thus causing the family turmoil. When you have an ensemble cast, it's always great because you can focus on more story lines. The series have some veteran actors here so you know the acting will be well done. I feel CBS might have a winner here. Hopefully it has garnered some interest via print, Internet and television. I'll definitely be tuning in with this one. "Cane" premieres Tuesday on September 25th at 10pm et/pt.
