Fall TV Preview: The Big Bang Theory Coming to CBS

PrinceKrillo
Starting this fall season, there's a lot more to be tuning in for than just Heroes. Get your TV schedules ready for a major makeover.

Last season, the majority of the new shows that were introduced by the networks ended up failing. Why? Probably because they lacked a good premise and had little if any potential for success. This year, there's nothing but potential in the slew of new shows coming your way starting this fall season.

If you think the "safe bet" shows such as CSI, Grey's Anatomy, House, The Office, Prison Break, and Lost, among others, are still going to be the "what to watch" programs this upcoming season, think again. You're all about to witness a serious changing of the guard.

I present my fall preview of the Top 11 new shows from all five major networks that I will most definitely be tuning in for. The TV season may have just ended, but it's never too early to start planning for the next one. Especially with the upcoming 2007-2008 year.

My 2007-2008 TV Season Pick #3: "The Big Bang Theory" (CBS)
It's no secret that primetime sitcoms have taken a serious hit these past few years. In fact, the highest rated comedy on TV lately has been "Two and a Half Men," and that alone tells you how sorry a state comedy is really in. Be prepared, however, for a return to "funny" this fall. As well as the return of Kaley Cuoco (happy day).

The Big Bang Theory, set to air Mondays on CBS in the 8:30 timeslot, is a new comedy all about life through the eyes of two geeky nerds. Or is it nerdy geeks? Either way, aside from it being a sitcom airing on CBS, the biggest reason to check this out is Kaley Cuoco (8 Simple Rules, Charmed),who makes her return to television with a starring role as the hot "girl next door," opposite the know-it-all geeks, played by Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons.

The premise of the show may not seem that appealing just from what you read, but trust me ... give CBS's wickedly funny trailer a chance. Kept me laughing the first four times. Plus, the characters of Leonard and Sheldon are a great pair, and juxtaposed with Cuoco's character of Penny, you've got on your hands a fresh new comedy with some serious potential, a show that can only be described as being "too smart for its own good."

Airing at 8:30 on Mondays, one of the most competitive nights of TV, could spell disaster for the new show as it faces off against Prison Break (FOX) and the near-Idol-rivaling Dancing with the Stars (ABC). The good news is, the show is sandwiched in-between CBS's other, returning sitcoms, which have been known to perform surprisingly well on Monday nights.

My Predicted Survival Rating for "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS:
60% chance of being renewed
