This hour long science fiction drama revolves around a woman by the name of Jamie Sommers. She lives in California with her sister whom she plays mother to and works as a bartender. She has a boyfriend who loves her and finds herself pregnant with his baby. He soon proposes. It is tough for her at this point in her life with a job that doesn't pay enough, playing mother to a sister and now is pregnant. She is going to make do with what she has been given. Little does she know that soon after, her life will change forever in a major way.
Before long, Jamie is involved in a car accident that almost takes her life. Her boyfriend Will Anthros works as a scientist and saves the life of his girlfriend by operating on her with a revolutionary operation. When she wakes up later in her hospital bed, she is horrified to find out what has been done to her. She has artificial limbs and an unusual strength not known to any human.
Where does Jamie's life go from here? She must use what she has now for the good of man all the while attempting to balance it out with her personal life. Can she do it? Will she make it as the Bionic Woman? You of course will have to tune in to find out.
"Bionic Woman" stars Michelle Ryan ("Jekyll" and "EastEnders"), Miguel Ferrer, Molly Price ("Third Watch"), Will Yun Lee ("Fallen" and "Thief"), Katee Sackhoff, Thomas Kretschmann and Mark Sheppard. "Bionic Woman" was developed by David Eick. The series is also executive produced by Eick along with Laeta Kalogridis ("Birds of Prey") as well as Jason Smilovic ("Kidnapped").
So will the "Bionic Woman" make it? First up is the time slot. The only returning show that it is up against is "Criminal Minds" which is probably smart in NBC's case. The less competition the better. NBC has been trying to create a buzz around the show which includes a deal with Blockbuster Home Video. Customers can rent a NBC Fall Preview DVD for free and it gives viewers a peek at the science fiction drama series. I've read some bad reviews online for the show. It's difficult because viewers I'm sure will constantly compare it to the original. I predict a large audience will tune in for the premiere, more out of curiosity than anything. If the writing, acting and special effects are first-rate, then with any luck it will last. Let's hope NBC was smart with this one. "Bionic Woman" premieres on Wednesday, September 26th at 9/8c on NBC.
