Fall TV Preview: Pushing Daisies

The creators of Pushing Daisies have created a monster with an amazing cast, great support, an interesting plot, and so much hype that it will have to be a let-down to someone. . Combining the creative talents of these people is the best idea anyone has ever come up with, short of Joss Whedon deciding on a Buffy spin-off show.

First, you've got the Producer Barry Sonnenfield. This man has produced some of the more quarky comedies of the past few years, such as Big Trouble, Lady Killers, and Get Shorty. Following his lead is an amazing Director.

Bryan Fuller is the writer of this show. Not only is he partly responsible for the glorious Heroes, but he has graced us with the wonderful, but short lived drama Wonderfalls as well as Star Trek Voyager and Dead Like Me.

Before I even get to the actual cast, I've already shown you that a producer with an odd sense of humor combined with a writer who is a self-proclaimed nerd is a recipe for success. I can tell you that I've seen the leaked pilot and it is nothing short of wonderful. Everything about the show is great. It seems campy at times, and even goes as far as to feel a little bit like "The Burbs," if you mixed it with Ghost Whisperer and Raines and could pretend the latter two shows were actually of decent quality.

Anyways, it started off interesting enough, with the star of the show, Lee Pace, narrating the basic premise; If he touches something dead, it comes back to life. If he doesn't touch it again after two minutes, somebody in the immediate vicinity dies in his place. There are four main cast members, and what seems to be two supporting cast members in each episode. Also, there are the dead people and the murderers.

The main characters consist of

Lee Pace: He plays Ned, the eclectic guy who can bring people back to life. He's also the former star of Wonderfalls,

Chi Mcbride: He plays a sketchy ex-detective who likes to get the money for catching thieves. I guess that makes him a bounty hunter, but he is still an ex Boston Public School Principal who owns a drug company and pisses off Hugh Laurie in his spare time. This man is just pure amazing, whether it be on movies like Waiting, or in the countless television appearances he has managed to catch.

Anna Friel: She has nothing special in her filmography, but she seemed like the sweet innocent girl of Ned's dreams that he brings back to life and forgets to put back to sleep. She has two agoraphobic aunts with guns (played by Ellen Green and Swoosie Kurtz), who find out she's alive and they seem to protect her. Their story is interesting, but I'd hate to ruin it for you at this juncture.

Finally, Kristen Chenoweth rounds out the cast as Ned's next door neighbor pseudo love-interest who knows and accepts Ned's powers.

Hopefully, people who watch this show love the campy over the top feeling that I get from it and continue to watch this whodoneit crime comedrama, rather than abandon it like people seem to do to all remotely popular television shows nowadays.

My advice to you is to watch this show. I've already seen the pilot, I don't have a neilsen box, but I am still watching this show because deep down I know Big Brother can tell what television shows I am watching. Trust me, this show is going to be amazing.
