Fall Wedding Colors

Fall is a great time for weddings! The colors at a wedding set the mood for the whole ceremony and reception, so a lot of thought tends to go into them. Here are three ideas for color themes that are good for the fall.

Black & White - This is a really formal combination, and one that's seen a lot. Sometimes, red is added in for color. It consists of a classic tux for the men in the ceremony, a white wedding gown, black bridesmaids gowns, and white flowers. For the added red, the flowers can be red, as well as the bridesmaids' dresses. If you decide to add the red, give the bridesmaids white flowers to offset the strong color. Leave the silver out of this color combination if it's for a fall wedding, though, silver is too wintry. Roses, orchids, and lilies would be the best flower choices for this color combination.

Bright foliage - The leaves can be your greatest inspiration for a fall wedding. Take a look at the foliage around where the wedding will be, and plan accordingly. Tuxedo accents come in many colors, not to mention the many colors a bridesmaids' dress can come in! This also offers the opportunity to use seasonal leaves in the bouquets and the décor, and blend it all together seamlessly. Good colors for this theme are yellow, orange, and red. If you're looking for a less striking ensemble, try pastels for a more faded fall look. On the tables, you could put gourds and pumpkins. For the bouquets, try mums and zinnias, since they come in the right colors and they're in season! Big bright sunflowers should also be in season around this time and can add a fun aspect to the décor with their sunny faces.

Dark foliage - Foliage colors can come darker, as well, and these are useful for a more formal wedding. Red, brown, black, they all show during the fall. Just think of a dried corn cob like some people use for decoration (and you could too!). Not only this, but darker colors are flattering on all figures. Midnight blue would fit into this theme as well. It would be really appropriate for a nighttime wedding. Flowers are a little harder for this combination, but try roses, orchids, dark colored daisies, and liberal use of greens, like ivy. This is particularly nice for late fall, when the leaves have fallen and the days are getting short.

A fall wedding should make use of the harvest that's going on during the autumn months. Use what you see around you, and ask florists locally for their help in incorporating those things into your special day. It will make it memorable for the guests and for the lucky couple.
