Favors are typically distributed at the cocktail hour or wedding reception and as a general rule, they should match the overall theme or color scheme at the reception. There are a variety of color palettes that are trending in fall wedding planning: eggplant and gold, red and gold, and typical fall colors such as orange, yellow, brown, and red are several hot color combos. Many people choose place card holders with decorative place cards to help guests find their seats at sit-down dinners. Fall themed place card holders could be in the shape of leaves, with place cards featuring guests' names in a font that matches the color scheme. For example, a gold colored place card holder with a beige card that uses an eggplant font would look elegant on top of an eggplant colored tablecloth at a fall wedding.
The use of food items as favors is also a popular wedding trend, and fall is associated with a variety of foods that could easily be incorporated into the wedding reception. Companies, such as Beau-Coup offer personalized favors, such as maple syrup bottles, hot cocoa packets, cookie mixes, cider mixes, and muffin mixes. These types of favors could be printed with the bride's and groom's names and the date of the wedding, giving guests a treat that they can enjoy later on. Couples who want to go the do it yourself route could enlist the help of friends who have baking skills to make fall shaped cut-out sugar cookies (leaves, pumpkins, etc.) to sit at each table. Other fall wedding favors that can be decorated with ribbons that match your wedding's color are small jars of apple butter, candy apples wrapped in cellophane, nicely boxed small pillar candles in orange, red, brown, or yellow, or miniature soaps. Cellophane wrapping can be found at many craft supply stores, and so can melt and pour soap making kits. If using soaps for your wedding favors and you choose to make them yourself, choose a seasonal scent, such as pumpkin spice or hot chocolate. Soaps can also be colored to match your color scheme.
