Fall Wedding Tips

Laura Frost
Falls weddings can be some of the most beautiful weddings because they bring with them the smell only fall can share with us. When you look out your window and see leaves falling, cool air blowing and even a fresh smell in their air you become aware of the fall's imminent return. This year use my tips to make your wedding one of a kind.

Step 1: Be creative

You don't have to be general to make your wedding absolutely perfect. Uniqueness should be key in any wedding because if your wedding looks like many others then what makes it more special?

Step 2: Pick a theme

Are you going to go with a simple theme producing well-defined fall colors or is your theme more inspired by the past such as a Celtic or Medieval theme. Or are you tossing aside these theme ideas for an upcoming popular Halloween wedding. No matter what your wedding will be, your second step should be naming a theme.

Step 3: Choose your colors

There are so many beautiful colors to choose from when it comes to fall. Most people think its simple red, orange or gold and that's about as far as thought goes when thinking of a fall wedding. Trust me, it's not! Here are just a few colors to kick off some brainstorming for choosing the most perfect colors for your fall wedding.

Burnt Orange

Purple

Burgundy

Rust

Brick Red

Goldenrod

Dark Green

Tan and Dark Brown

Step 4: Pick your flowers

Now that you know your colors, choose your flowers by using those colors. Sometimes the most perfect flowers can be the most simple, such as a carnation. Pink is not the wisest choice for a fall wedding but some people really like, only advice there would be to not mix it with red and white. Choose read, orange and white carnations and that will make a beautiful arrangement of flowers. If you don't really like carnations, then perhaps one of the following will catch your eye.

Perennials:

Sunflowers

Roses

Goldenrods

Hybrid Goldenrods

Hydrangeas

Gloriosas

Step 5: Choose your accents.

Accents do exactly what they are named, they accent the wedding. Use ribbons, ties, bows, velvet drapes and even woven baskets filled with corn, pears, and small pumpkins. If fruit is not your thing then fill them with colored balls or small ornaments reflecting your wedding theme.

Step 6: Choose your cake and food.

When deciding on a fall wedding it might be idea to go with something different than a normal wedding cake, but this is only an opinion, so choosing a traditional wedding cake is not going to ruin your wedding or anything. However, fall brings in the smell of pumpkin spice, so why not try a pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing and a few sprinkles of pumpkin spice littered atop it?
Fall weddings also bring in the preparation for thanksgiving; use some of your normal thanksgiving recipes to feed your party. Some turkey or roast, rolls, potato wedges or mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.

Step 7: Pick your music.

Music is key in any wedding. So of course choose a few songs that define your relationship, choose that special song that you heard on your very first date. Also try a little Celtic music for back noise music, it will add to your fall wedding.

Step 8: Put some clothes on!

Now dress yourself! Use your fall clothes to pick out your outfits. Men will be perfectly fine dressed in their traditional suits depending on your theme. Women should use their falls colors for both their bridesmaids and themselves. Burgundy makes an awesome looking bridesmaids dress while using either them same or a Goldenrod color for the dress.

Step 9: Get married!

Good luck!
