With winter on its way, the chances of becoming a couch potato increases for most people. However there are several different things one can do to stay active during the fall and winter months. There are a few different activities one can do outside, however if one would rather stay inside than venturing out into the cold, there are still a few exercises one can perform to remain active from the comfort of their home.

Go hiking or camping

Fall is a wonderful time of the year to explore the outdoors. Hiking and camping are two great things to do that will keep oneself active. Be it by oneself or with friends and family, Hiking and camping during the fall will allow one to see the natural beauty around them, including the fall foliage.

Go skiing or snowboarding

During the winter, skiing or snowboarding are two great sports to keep active during the winter. Although skiing or snowboarding may not be as intensive as jogging or going to the gym, skiing and snowboarding will still make one sweat and burn some calories.

Buy a treadmill, elliptical, or home gym

While buying a treadmill, elliptical or home gym may be expensive, the benefits outweigh the costs. Consider that many gym memberships have a monthly fee of over twenty dollars and one does not own anything. When one buys their own fitness equipment they own it, and after it has been paid off there will no longer be a monthly fee to pay for, saving oneself hard earned money. Additionally, having fitness equipment will allow oneself to stay active and exercise from the comfort of their home. No matter what type of equipment one decides to purchase, they should be sure to do their research and try a few different models before buying it. Check to see if there is a warranty and what exactly it covers.

Stay determined

It does not matter if one decides to stay active during the fall and winter months by going outdoors to do activities, or by using home fitness equipment indoors. The key is to stay determined and continue to exercise each day, if only for ten to fifteen minutes. By taking a small amount of time out of one's daily schedule to stay active will lead oneself to losing weight and staying in shape.
