Full Moon Yoga

Cheeseman Park
Weather permitting, the Ganesha Yoga Cooperative will be leading a Full Moon Yoga class at Cheeseman Park on September 3, 2009 at 7:00pm. This outdoor class occurs either in the pavilion or in the grass, and students have the chance to watch the sunset and the moonrise while practicing Moon Salutations and other yoga poses named after celestial bodies. All levels are welcome at this fun and casual vinyasa-style class. Donations from this Fall yoga event in Denver will go to benefit the Alliance for Lupus Research. Yoga Nidra Practicum

PranaYoga and Ayurveda Mandala Center
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation and sensory withdrawal in which you ride on the borderline between waking and sleeping as you explore inner awareness and visualizations. The PranaYoga and Mandala Center in Denver will be hosting a practicum this Fall for students practicing their delivery of Yoga Nidra. The practicum itself is $115 and requires knowledge of the Yoga Nidra system, but anyone is welcome to attend the Yoga Nidra sessions for a small donation. The Yoga Nidra practicum runs from September 11, 2009 to October 23, 2009. There will be two deliveries of Yoga Nidra during each session from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the public is invited to attend either delivery. Yoga Nidra is a rare practice in Denver, but has spectacular benefits, so take advantage of this Fall yoga event to explore your inner awareness.

The Yoga Journal Conference is being held in Estes Park, Colorado from September 20-27, 2009. This is one of the premier yoga festivals coming to the Denver area this Fall. There are events and classes going on all seven days, but the Main Conference is that last weekend, from September 25-27, 2009. There is also a Beginners Conference September 26-27, a Yoga and Rockclimbing Intensive September 22-24 and a Business Workshop September 23-24. Speakers and teachers for the 2009 Yoga Journal Conference in Estes Park include Seane Corn, T.K.V. Desikachar, Gary Kraftsow, Judith Hanson Lasater, Tias Little, Dharma Mittra and Shiva Rea. In addition to classes, panel discussions and lectures, there will also be performances from the unique yoga theater group Tripsichore. Full schedule and price list can be found on the Yoga Journal website. Check for a few events that are free and open to non-conference participants as well.

Not all yoga events in Denver this Fall are limited to yoga asana: Gary Fishman will be playing a Gong Bath at Samadhi Center for Yoga in Denver September 25, 2009 from 8:00-9:30 pm. Relax into meditation and let the deep vibrations of the gong ride through your body, cleansing and helping to rid you of fears and anxieties. Ana Forrest is coming to Denver this Fall to offer her Foundation level Forrest Yoga Teacher Training from October 9, 2009 to November 1, 2009. You can sign up for the whole intensive program, where you'll be stretching, strengthening, chanting and soul-searching from 6am to 6pm for 24 days, or you can sign up for 5-day, 11-day or 22-day intensives if you're more interested in deepening your practice than pursuing your teaching skills.
