Fallen Knight? Christian Bale Arrested, Accused of Assault

Iris Amelia
So I log onto Facebook and find a new status update from one of my friends. It read that he was "wondering whether it's true that Christian Bale assaulted his mom and sister."

I almost spit out my Gatorade onto my Macbook.

Christian Bale? Assault? Yes, he's good at assault - as Gotham City's protector Batman, notably seen in Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" and, most recently, "The Dark Knight." Although the latter flick has shattered box office records held by the "Star Wars" and "Spider-Man" franchises, it is now garnering a reputation involving actors meeting trouble.

Bale's mother and sister reported to police on Monday that the actor assaulted them in their hotel room in west London. Although Bale's questioning was slated for Monday, it was postponed because of the film's European premiere the same day. The assault apparently took place on Sunday night.

The "Dark Knight" star was arrested and will be questioned on Tuesday.

What does this mean now?

I am positive that "Dark Knight" fans are shocked, but how many more surprises will this film give? Like the bomb detonators the Joker placed in brightly wrapped boxes on doomed ferries, these incidents are indeed scary surprises.

The most shocking news that befell "Dark Knight" supporters was obviously the death of Heath Ledger, who brilliantly portrayed the Joker in the film opposite Bale's Batman. Ledger's performance did not fail to deliver to his moviegoers, even after his passing in January of this year. If anything, fans are now not only greatly appreciative of Ledger's energy and dedication in the film, but are now wondering, "Wow ... I wish there was a third Joker movie. How awesome would that be?"

That is not the only real-life death to have come from Nolan's latest film. In late 2007, a crewmember died in a tragic car accident during shooting.

I'm going to ignore the superstition and the belief that this film could be cursed, a la "The Exorcist." These are just unfortunate (and fatal) predicaments that fell upon cast members and crewmates.

But now I'm thinking -- would Bale's alleged assault affect his role in "The Dark Knight" sequel? We all know that this Batman series does not need another issue with one of its headliners.

"The Dark Knight" now faces another unfortunate problem, but this time Christian Bale takes center stage. Would this be the last one before the final sequel finishes?

According to emerging reports, they asked him for £100,000 to raise his sister's kids, and insulted his wife when he refused. That's why he got angry. Can't say I blame him.

I agree with the two previous posts. Get a life all of you... Bale is an actor. Just because it's a good film and he and Ledger gave great performances in it, let's not cannonize them. Heath Ledger was clearly a man with talent who had a difficult time dealing with the pressures people like you with your spurious and speculative jouranism imposed upon him. As for Christiian Bale; he seems to have his hands full with dead$hit relatives. Give the guy a break, the Police haven't laid any charges.

    A curse... Grow up.

It's not totally true. I'm sure that Christian Bale won't and never do that. Damn, what's the hell happening? There must be something wrong. I believe that it's not Christian Bale fault. Nothing is clearly now, maybe it's just a accident ; maybe his mom and sister did something so bad, wicked, unforgivable to him. I would still believe in him if all the world didn't believe in him. If Christian Bale was violent , there was no gentleman in the world. Bless him, everything will be alright. Pray for Christian Bale.....

Poltergeist is the allegedly cursed movie, where four of the cast members died within six years of the film's release.

Sir, you need to get your facts straight if you're going to publish crap like this. It was HIS hotel room, not theirs. And if you do any snooping on the net, you'll find rumors abounding about them showing up intoxicated and demanding to be let into his room to wait for him. When hotel staff refused, they camped out, and bombarded the actor when he arrived back at the hotel. Rumors of money grubbing and demands to be taken care of by him abound. If he did anything, sources state, it was to attempt to escort them out of his room, and they are calling this harmless shove assault in an effort to exact revenge. Actors act. To imply that he's anything like the characters that he plays is ludicrous.

Please get the facts straight before creating inflammatory headlines. He was charged with "verbal" assault, which is apparently a crime in England. He didn't actually hit his mom or sister, just yelled at them real loud.
