Falling Leaves in a Cool Breeze

Kate Bee

The first cool breeze of the fall season brushes their cheeks,

turning red, coupling with a warm smile and closed eyes.

The couple holds hands and walks underneath the trees -

brown, orange, and green leaves fall around them

and seem to paint a perfect picture of the fall season.

Cold hands move to gloves and then into pockets -

faint breath hovers outside of their pursed lips.

There is a calming smell of sweet, burning leaves -

surrounding, naked trees take the couple in their arms

and seem to paint a perfect picture of the fall season.

Indeed, the fall season has embraced the two -

all that is left for them is to enjoy and breathe.

Breathe in all of the beautiful colors and smells,

remember to indulge in pumpkin pie and apple cider…

and paint that perfect picture of the fall season.
