Supplies:
- 1 foot dowel
- Fishing line (thread will work)
- Yard Stick
- Glue (a hot glue gun works best)
- Scissors
- Hooks to display project
Time: 1 hour or less
1. Begin with your leaves. Use http://z.about.com/d/gonewengland/1/0/5/C/leaf5.gif, or another leaf template that you like. You can print the leaves out on colored paper and cut them out, or print them out on white paper, color them, and cut them out. You will need 16 leaves.
2. Measure out 4 - 36 in. long pieces of fishing line.
3. Glue your leaves to your string. The suggest way is to put 4 on each line, staggering them, so they are not all straight across from each other. Leave at least an inch or so from the top, so that you can tie them on the dowel.
4. Attach the first string to the end of one side of the dowel. It is best if you secure this with glue. 4 inches from the first line, attach the second line, and then the third line 4 inches from the second. Attach the fourth line on the other end of the dowel.
5. How you display your finished project in your window is up to you. One easy way is to use suction cups with hooks. You could also use command strips with hooks.
6. Because they are so easy to make, decorate all your windows! The leaves can also be hung on your doors or on your walls. They can even be hung from the ceiling! (The best way to do this is to use Command Small Wire Hooks).
Bring the outside into your home!
