Fall is the season of bold colors that Summer, Spring, and Winter only wish they could pull off. Copper, gold, bright reds, deep burgundy, bold purples, murky blues, deep greens, and burnt oranges are all the rage when Fall comes to call. Get your fashion on with fingernail polish colors and clothing styles before the leaves start falling- Fall is upon us and your wardrobe and nails need to be ready!
If you love green, then a deep emerald green is a great Fall color. As is a lovely slate (gray) green as well. Dark green colors (like jade) are great for Fall. Too dark for you? Try an olive or hunter green, too, paired with some yellow gold jewelry (also Fall-inspired, great time to break out that 'dated' jewelry you have lying around). A great muted version of green that makes you think of Fall and awaiting Winter is a super color to wear on your nails, and goes great with your fading tan as well. Think of an olive green turtleneck, or go bold with an emerald green that offsets your skin as it lightens for Winter. Wear complementary shades of green on both your nails and in your clothing, or mix-n-match- how about an olive green shirt with eggplant purple nails?
Blues are best if you stick to the darker colors, almost black, when it comes to fingernail polish. Think of midnight blue, or matte blue-green color. Blue is more suited for Winter or Summer, but if you stick with even a gray/blue color (think, raincloud or ocean) then you can have a wonderful Fall color to get you ready to carve out pumpkins. Blue/green colors (think of the color of the sky right before it rains) are perfect for Fall, and go great again with brown or gold jewelry to really get into Fall. For nails, stick to the darker blues, and contrast with a lighter gray/blue shirt or jacket.
Orange and red are classic Fall colors, and brown can be tossed in as well. This is where your gold, copper, and sepia brown colors come into play. Tomato red, pumpkin orange, deep squash yellow, and burgundy are great choices for Fall fingernail polish colors. Think of a centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table- these are the colors of reds, oranges, and browns you want. For clothing, stick to the burnt orange, the deep sepia brown, more of a cranberry or maroon red. Orange and red are best to wear in clothing if you have a brown undertone to them, or limit them to jewelry pieces. Bright reds or orange can go to the nails.
If you can't seem to dedicate yourself to a Fall color, then a basic tan with a gold glitter can get you in the mood for Fall without being too fashion-forward. Or choose a nice eggplant purple, which allows you to be trendy but not too dark or too fashionista at the same time. Or, you can just go for gold glitter or copper glitter and call it good. You don't have to go all out- it's just getting time to put those tropical colors away. As far as your clothing goes, so long as you aren't wearing a sweater vest with a turkey on it, then you're basically OK. However, you can let those Fall colors go wild in your yellow gold jewelry- even a nice goldenrod shirt can do the trick, or even tan!
note: to inspire colors of Fall, think of Fall leaves and Thanksgiving centerpieces- those many vibrant colors can inspire you to choose a great Fall color for you! Now, hit the fingernail polish and clothing aisles and start getting ready for the upcoming season!
