Fall's Children

Simplicity of Being Young

The falls of my childhood: steady and mellow.
Brown, green, red, and yellow.
Summer gave way just a while ago.
School, pumpkins, baseball, Halloween.
Children dancing in the leaves.
Turkey, squash, cranberry sauce.
The family gathers to give thanks.
Cool, swift, nippy, breeze.
Stuffy noses, colds, and sneeze.
Apple picking, pumpkin picking.
Don't forget scarecrow picking.
How sweet would it be.
To return to age three.
And laugh and dance in the pile of leaves.
