Actress Cameron Diaz is the voice behind Princess Fiona in all of the Shrek movies. Cameron Diaz enjoyed playing Princess Fiona in a voice-over for the movie yet says acting live on stage is not for her .
False information is circulating on the web as to the singing voice of Shrek's Princess Fiona. Wikipedia gives credit to Renee Sands for providing the singing voice of Princess Fiona on Shrek and Shrek 2 . Renee Sands is also known as Renee Sandstrom. If you are an 80's child like myself you will remember Renee from the television show Kids Incorporated . Wikia also gives credit to Renee Sands as the singing voice of Princess Fiona in all of the Shrek movies.
Last.fm also gives credit to Renee Sands for providing Princess Fiona's singing voice on Shrek and Shrek 2 . Last.fm is a web site that allows members to edit information. Wikipedia allows anyone to edit information. False claims such as these are exactly why writers should not use Wikipedia or other such web sites as references.
Facebook gets in on the rumor as well. On the facebook page for Princess Fiona the author gives Cameron Diaz credit for the talking voice of Fiona yet gives Renee Sands credit for the singing voice. The source for the information was taken from the Wikipedia article titled "Princess Fiona." Apparently many read Wikipedia and believe whatever is written on the page to be fact.
Again we find Renee Sands getting credit for the singing voice of Princess Fiona in Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After on OVGUIDE (Your Online Video Guide). This false rumor is beginning to spread like wildfire.
The Internet Movie Database does a more accurate job at presenting the filmography of Renee Sands (Sandstrom). Yahoo Movies lists the full cast of Shrek in great detail. Not once is the name Renee Sands or Renee Sandstrom found.
The Shrek web page gives credit to Cameron Diaz alone as the voice-over of Princess Fiona. Cameron Diaz is rightly credited for the talking and singing voice of Princess Fiona in all the Shrek movies, including the video short Shrek in the Swamp Karaoke Dance Party.
I don't even remember Princess Fiona singing much in the Shrek movies. At the end of Shrek the characters are singing at a karaoke party. Fiona sings "Like a Virgin" by Madonna and Shrek and Fiona both sing "Happy Together" by The Turtles.
I hope we have cleared up that rumor that has spread accross the web in "ogre sized" proportions.
