Faltering Landscape

Justin Germino
Jaunt of an ecstatic squirrel

morose raindrops clammy and cold

attention in the details of nature

the therapeutic influences on our soul

Yet, obtuse destruction of environment

tallies like a rising mast of failures

from airplane wreckages to oil leaks

the questionable human factor remains

When all falls with no memorial

a world beyond hope of recovery

every woot of successful cleanups

only hastens a faltering landscape

Will the nature continue to sing

calamity of the elements void

soul left hollow by rock and concrete

as life itself becomes less tangible
