Ballentyne 10K, 5K, and Fun Run. This event has already passed for 2011, but the 7th annual event was such a success that it is time to make plans to participate in the one for 2012, It isn't too early to start making plans for your family to participate.

Family Fun Runs are a great way to encourage your kids to exercise. Make it a competition among family members. Make sure everyone gets a prize of some kind just for participating. I remember when my family participated in a fun run at the Harris YMCA. I was at the beginning of my weight loss journey, and wasn't too sure about being in a fun run. My family came along as a means of support, and we had an awesome time. Just to make it to the end of the fun run was a huge accomplishment for me, and knowing that my kids were there to support me make it even more special. I still have the T-shirt and the medal I got for finishing the run.

So grab your family and get moving! If you don't see a 5K or fun run here that you want to participate in, check periodically online to find more. They are always popping up. You'll have a great time, and be healthier as a result.
