Family Adventures Are Abundant In New York City

Summer Banks
"Do the hustle!" For some of us a vacation is the time we spend doing lazy things we would never get to do in our normal daily routine. Catching a movie, lying on the beach and getting a spa treatment are a few that come to mind. But, for the other half of the world's population, excitement rules the roost. New York City is one of the most exciting cities in the United States. With the average family having 2.2 kids, you may think you cannot experience the bright life of New York City on vacation, but, you can! There are great places throughout the city for kids to enjoy too!

Hayden Planetarium

How can you possibly see the stars through all of those tall buildings? The Hayden Planetarium has you covered. Best visited for their "Tuesdays in the Dome" exhibits, and the planetarium offers a 3-D atlas space. Whether warping through a digital universe or taking a trip to the stars is your favorite, you will find infinite adventures at Hayden.

Wollman Skating Rink

Ice Skating in the middle of Central Park on a cold winter's day seems to be more out of the movies than reality, but vacationers visit this park at an astounding rate every year. Best suited for winter vacations, (due to only being open from October to April), the Wollman Skating Rink is one of the most famous spots in all of New York City. Annual events include, figure skating competitions and hockey games and of course the occasional filming of a movie!

New York Aquarium

With more than 8,000 animals on exhibit, the New York Aquarium offers some of the most diverse sea-life viewing you will be able to find. Scientists working at the New York Aquarium are studying animals in more than 50 countries all over the world and all proceeds from visitations go toward the aquarium and research done there. Fun happens around every corner with the Alien Stingers exhibit and an aqua theater of performing sea lions, children will no doubt be awe-struck by the animal habitats.

New York Talks and Walks

The best way to teach your child that a city as busy as New York City is not a city to be feared, is to show them all it has to offer from the hustling streets. The New York Talks and Walks tour is an adventure open to people of all ages. With more than 100 different tours led by Dr. Phil Schoenberg and his illustrious team of New York City experts, the tour teaches visitors about the city and takes just a little of the fright away from NYC newbies!

Through space and water, warm or frozen, New York City offers some truly great adventures for families. Vacations and business trips no longer have to leave the youngsters behind when visiting this wonderful city full of experiences that are truly out of this world.
