Ahh, Christmas. Time to shop, and shop, and well, shop, and when you have a whole family to consider, the task of purchasing gifts for everyone can be daunting, not to mention costly. Never fear, a single gift that the whole family can enjoy isn't hard to find, and won't break the bank either. Here are some great family gift ideas for Christmas, from gifts that our family of 6 has received to gifts that we have given other families as well. Enjoy.

Don't have a huge budget, or you have no idea what to get a family for Christmas? Perhaps the most fun gift is one of those Christmas goody tins that are full of flavored popcorn, candies, chocolates, and other treats separated into sections within the tin. When we received a tin for Christmas last year, we loved the treats, and the tin came in handy after all the goodies were gone in the form of a dog food container. You can't go wrong with a quick and easy Christmas treat like the traditional Christmas goody tin! And the tin can be used for many things, from pet food storage to saving wrapping paper later!

A gift card to a popular restaurant, like a pizza place or a buffet, is another great way to treat a family for Christmas. For many families, going out to eat is a novelty, and a gift card for $50 or less can be a super fun way to let a family enjoy a night out after the holiday rush is over. A gift card to a restaurant for Christmas will be greatly appreciated, and lets the parents have a break for once from cooking for the kiddos. If you don't know what restaurant the family might like, a gift card to Wal-Mart is a great choice as well. Who doesn't love or have access to Wal-Mart? This type of gift card can come in handy.

How about a board game? Forget browsing endlessly in the aisles for a cool and popular game that you don't even know how to play- the classics like Yahtzee, Uno, Scrabble, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, etc are the games that families can happily add to their game collection. We received a Yahtzee game for Christmas last year and after all the presents had been opened, it's the first thing we got into and played with. Even a simple card game, like Go Fish, is a great family gift to give.

Who doesn't love movies? A wonderful family gift is a Disney movie that is appropriate for everyone, and a movie provides an opportunity for a family to enjoy some quality time together as the holiday winds down. A movie can be enjoyed over and over again, and a Disney classic never gets old. Think of your favorite family classics and gift your favorites to someone else. Toss in box of microwavable popcorn for an added treat.

Sometimes the best gift you can give a family is simply just a Merry Christmas. Send a card with a Christmas photo of your own brood and well wishes for the coming year to show a family how much you are for the holidays. Sometimes in the whole rush of the holidays trying to simply just show holiday spirit is the most difficult of all. But it sure is lovely when you can take the time to truly show it.
