Family Christmas Gifts for 2008

Antoinette McGowan
When it comes to Christmas there is so much gift giving going on and one great gift giving idea is a family gift. In our house we give gifts to the children and to each other then we have one gift that is for everyone in the house. We try to make the family gift something that will enhance our family time together and help us bond with the children. The following are suggestions for family Christmas gifts for 2008.

Nintendo Wii:

The Nintendo Wii is a great family Christmas gift for 2008 as it allows for some fun family bonding time. Some of the games that you can get with the Nintendo Wii allow for you to set up tournaments that you can play as a family. I have friends that have told me that their family nights are more livelier now that they have the Nintendo Wii to play as a family. In addition it is a better choice than any other gaming system as to play this game you have to get up and be active and this is better than stationary game play. I found this gift at Wal-Mart in a bundle pack for $399 and it comes with the game system, remote, nunchuk and two games of your choice.

Digital Camcorder:

A digital camcorder also makes a great family Christmas gift for 2008. This is a great way to capture all those "Don't want to miss" moments that takes place. Times change and we grow older and a digital camcorder is the perfect way to capture the present so that there is always a way to look back on days gone by. Best Buy has digital camcorders ranging in price from $99.00 all the way up to $1,200.00 with brands such as Sony, Samsung, JVC and more.

Cell Phones with Family Plan:

Cell phones can be a great way to help keep family members connected. Let everyone know where you are and when you may be home or running late by having a cell phone plan that lets you talk for free among others in your plan. With the ability to stay connected this makes a cell phone with a family plan a great family Christmas gift for 2008. We have three phones on our plan with my husband having one, my mother-in-law having one and myself having the other. This lets us know that we can stay connected with each other and my mother-in-law who is in bad health. For those who have kids old enough this lets them stay connected and know where each other is at throughout the day and night. T-Mobile has family talk plans that start as low as $59.99.

Family Gym Membership:

This Christmas why not give your family a gift that will benefit them for their whole lives. A family membership to a gym is a great way to help your whole family get in shape and stay healthy. Gym memberships vary by state, location and individual gyms. Even if all you do is a one month membership for Christmas it will still have some very healthy benefits that will last. Going to the gym together can also be a wonderful bonding experience.

The Night before Christmas on DVD:

This is a cheaper family Christmas gift for this year but it still can have a great impact on your family. Imagine the warmth and fun of curling up on the couch as a family and watching a Christmas classic on the television. This DVD can be purchased from Amazon.com for $17.99 new and around $9.99 for a used DVD.
