Family Fitness!

Get Fit Together and Have Fun!

Fitness is important for individuals and families alike. But many American families are not well known for their habitual healthy habits. But people are more aware of health and their overall well being. My family is also a part of this new revolution and we love it!

First, let me tell you about the sheer unfairness that my husband can eat twice as much as me and not gain a single pound. We are that typical married couple with the man eating everything and the woman looking at him, gaining ounces from the salt that somehow crosses the room through the air.

So, we are doing something about it. I go to the YMCA a few times a week, work out, and swim with the kids. My husband comes with us when we go during the evening or weekend hours, and he has a blast with us. Going to a facility that is family friendly, has many activities to choose from, an indoor pool for all seasons, and child care is the best option for my family. I can even work on my college assignments and sip my coffee in the common area while my children are active and having fun. How great is that?

We can grab a basketball and play together as a family, which is always great fun. My husband is a great athlete and loves teaching our daughters new sports and the best moves. The girls have fun and we all have family time together, healthy family time! We also have a gaming system that allows us to play together actively and laugh at our on screen portrayals. Sometimes we go out bowling and have a blast with that as well.

Of course, I have changed the menu for our dinners and have changed the way we eat. Almost every night a salad is our first course with water. Fewer carbohydrates and more vegetables are the greatest adjustments we have made. But healthy eating can taste great.

It has been less than 3 months and I have lost 16 pounds. My clothes fit better, I feel better, and knowing that my entire family is benefiting from the changes I am making make every chocolate sacrifice well worth it!

Family fitness can be so much fun. You will get closer to your spouse and children, have more quality time together, and encounter fewer problems along your path with your family. Choose a sport, center, or game and get started today! Your family will thank you, and so will your waistline!
