Family Friendly Activities for New Year's Eve in Knoxville TN

Knoxville, TN proves once again to be the place to enjoy fantastic family fun. New Years Eve this year will be celebrated by thousands of families as they greet the New Year from Market Square. There is definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Children and adults alike will marvel at the wide variety of captivating presentations such as sword fighting, magic acts, puppetry, dance, music and storytelling.

The mild weather for this time of year will help families enjoy both indoor and outdoor events. Thirteen venues will be held in and around Market Square, the Tennessee Theater, TVA Auditorium and the YWCA.

Music for everyone's liking will be presented throughout the evening and into the night. Families attending will enjoy everything from hand bells to Rockabilly music, seasoned with performances of Jazz, Folk, Southern Rock and Blues.

Some of the performers are: Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, The Bearded (Blues Band), Knoxville Klezmer Band (popular Jewish folk music), Tennessee Schmaltz and the Suns of Sphere; just to name a few.

"North Carolina storyteller Mitch Capel, children's musician Roger Day, Knoxville jazz artist Sarah Schwabe, First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville Hand bell Choir, cello player Georgia Sinko and the folk band Centralia Massacre will perform. Local theater groups performing during First Night include Actor's Co-op, Children's Theatre of Knoxville, Circle Modern Dance and the Tennessee Stage Company. Magician Michael Messing and Knoxville magician and clown Jeffery Doan will perform...."

It all kicks off at 3:00 PM Wednesday afternoon. Family friendly events run until 7:00 PM. There is even an early fireworks show scheduled for the children for 9:00 PM. Then the night's activities continue until the ball dropand another fireworks show at midnight.

    Nice write up. I hope Knoxville does another First Night. My husband and I missed the last one but were at the first one 20 years ago. We still have our button.
