If your family is looking for something fun to do in Charlotte, why not check out some of the many family friendly sporting events in the area? No matter the season, Charlotte is known for some of her sports events. Whether you enjoy baseball, football, or NASCAR, there is something for everyone. Here are some of the top family friendly sporting events in Charlotte:
Carolina Panthers. If you find yourself in a sea of black, blue, and white, chances are you are sitting in the middle of the Bank of America Stadium watching a Carolina Panther's game. A Panther's game is a great family outing. Enjoy a tailgate picnic before the game. If you're lucky you might get to meet Sir Purr or the Carolina Panther Cheerleaders. The best part, of course, is always the game itself. There is nothing quite like being a part of an NFL football game. The excitement is contagious whether you are a player on the field or a fan in the stands.
Charlotte Knights. Attending a Charlotte Knights baseball game is so much fun. My family and I have always loved going to see the Knights play. In a way it's like a trip back in time as the audience sings "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and the organ music plays before the crowd yells "Charge!" Between innings, you will be entertained by Homer the Dragon as well as various little games along the sidelines. Check your program at various times during the game for a chance to win prizes. For kids there is a little pavilion where they can run and play within a safe area. There is also a merry-go-round and a bounce house. There is plenty of food to purchase at the games. After all, what's a baseball game without a hot dog or some peanuts? At various times during the summer months, there are fireworks after the game.
Charlotte Bobcats. If basketball is a sport your family enjoys, then you will be sure to enjoy attending a Charlotte Bobcat's game. Home games are held at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Keep an eye out for the Lady Cats, who will be cheering on your team. There is nothing quite like the fast paced action of a basketball game.
Charlotte Checkers. Who doesn't love hockey? If your family is among those who enjoy the intensity of a hockey game, then take the time to attend a Charlotte Checker's game. On June 24th, the Checkers will be having a "Draught for the Draft" party at Buffalo Wild Wings. It will be a great chance to win some free tickets and other prizes for you and your family. There will also be appearances by Chubby, the Checkmates, Stormy and the Storm Squad.
NASCAR. NASCAR is a big deal in the Carolinas. What could be more fun than heading out to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for a day of fun watching your favorite drivers go around the track? I remember wondering why on earth NASCAR racing is considered a sport. Then I watched a race -- really watched a race. Can you imagine going 175 mph or faster being only inches away from the car in front of you? That truly does take a sportsmanlike ability that is unmatched. Not only do these drivers do this, they do it for hours and for hundreds of miles. Simply amazing to watch. Your family will enjoy watching a race at the Speedway.
Whatever sporting event in Charlotte you choose for your family to go to (or even if you choose them all), you are sure to have a wonderful time. It is a great way to bond with both your family and your local community.
