Camden's Adventure Aquarium is probably the biggest draw for families in this city, and depending on the aquarium schedule and your children's interests, you could spend the day here. The little kids will enjoy running into aquarium mascots who walk around the facility and congregate in the rotunda.
Children also will enjoy the Touch Exhibits, where they can feed African birds and touch and feed giant Stingrays. The seal and penguin habitats are always popular so if you don't see a large crowd, you might want to head there first. Gills Clubhouse is a cute way for kids to view the ocean creatures and learn about sharks. The aquarium is open daily 9:30 am to 5 pm and you can buy tickets online.
You can save a little money by purchasing a multi-attraction for the aquarium and the nearby Battleship New Jerseywww.battleshipnewjersey.org/ . The battleship's hours vary depending on the time of year, with more available hours from May to December.
On the battleship, you'll get to tour inside and view the Camden and Philadelphia waterfronts. For some extra fun, you might want to coordinate your trip with a special event on the Battleship.
Families with younger children won't want to miss the Camden Children's Garden, which is really worth seeing when the flowers are in bloom. However, winter can be fun as well with the garden lit up for the holidays. The Dinosaur Garden is neat with large sculptures and the large cups in the Picnic Garden are sure to be a hit. There also is a little train families can ride around parts of the garden and the Butterfly House is worth a stop. Plan your visit around one of the many cute kids' events held throughout the year including the Earth Day, Cinco de Mayo, Fairies and Wizards, and Goblins in the Garden family festivals.
