New Year's Day Party
The idea of New Year's Day party itself creates in one's mind with showers of happiness, rolling over of next year i.e. 2009, keeping aside all the differences, sorrow, sufferings, misery, agony and pain. My fourteen years teenage son and my younger one the small and loved my six years daughter came together with novel ideas to celebrate the New Year's Day. They both agreed that this year's New Year's Day celebration should be different from last year. Children's are the one who enjoy the celebration and as a father I too enjoy with them and my happiness multiplies many folds.
My son said "Dad this year we will not go out to restaurants but have a New Year's Party at home. We will call our ailing Grant Parents to enjoy this New Year's Day celebration and spend, enjoy and reduce some of their loneliness and misery of Cancer."
I said yes why not son? This is really a very noble gesture and I am sure they will enjoy the most.
We all then decided to decorate our house with balloon's, colored stars, good will messages, twinkle and sparking lights and bulbs. We will decorate outside the house with colored candles to show that we want to enlighten our lives and come out from the darkness of misery and troubles of last year. There is an old saying that "If you start New Year's day one with positive note, fun, frolic, empathy towards elders, determination, and with courage to fight battle against the predicaments of day to day , then your whole year you will have the same kind of mood and can have a meaningful New Year.
Antakshari
My son decided to spend the New Year's Day by watching his Harry Potter's latest movie and play Antakshari with his younger sister, grand parents, his close friends and neighbors. "(Antakshari is a game between two teams, each team will sing a song and the last word will be the starting word from which other team has to sing a song. When one team unable to sing with the last word, then the other team gets a mark.)"
"What is the theme?"
Another game called what is the theme? In this game involves two teams and each team is given five chance to guess the other team thought about. The topics can be on History, Historical events, places, personalities, Monuments, sports or films.
"Kaun Banega Crorepati "on New Year's day
This is a very popular game with children of all ages. Here one game master is selected who has good knowledge and he calls each individual and he asks certain number of questions. Each right answer the participant gets 1000 marks and it increase by 1000 points. One who answers more number of questions and reaches 10000000 points becomes "Crorepati".
Musical Chair on New Year's Day
This game where certain number of chairs are kept in round shape, which will be one less than the number of participants are kept. Upon pause of music the participants sits on the next chair to him. And one who is found to stand will have to exit from the game. Each time one chair is reduced. At last one who sits on the last chair is announced as the winner.
These are some of the games played by children and adults in this New Year's Day. Adults play cards games, sing songs etc.
We will arrange some popular Hindi film music, some old western music like come September, French and Spanish dance numbers. All of us can dance on the numbers and drink and enjoy this New Year's Day.
As the night intensifies we will have fire crackers, and toast for the New Year's Day 2009 by all.
Send messages on new year's day
Send sms messages on mobiles, emails and twitter messages on computer. I will make telephone calls to near and dear ones, friends and neighbors.
New year's day- Dinner
For refreshments for children and ladies soft drinks, fruit juices or Milk shakes will be served along with potato chips, paneer tikka, fruit cakes, samosa or cookies. I decided to have good wine which my father can enjoy along finger chips, egg pokodas.
Dinner this New Year's day will be vegetable biriyani, paneer butter masala, green salad, potato geera fry, cakes, channa podo( It is sweet made from Chenna and cooked on fire from both side, it is a typical Oriya sweet)
