Freeze Tag
The rules for freeze tag are pretty simple, and the more people you have playing the better. We usually end up with extra kids from the playground playing with us before too long, which just make things more fun. The first thing you need for a game of freeze tag is someone to be 'it'. What this means is that the person who is 'it' will run around and tag people to freeze them. Once they are frozen they cannot move until another player comes along and tags them again. The object of the game is for the person who is 'it' to get everyone frozen at the same time. This is not as easy as it may sound. When everyone is frozen then the last person to become frozen is now 'it'. I have found this to be great exercise for my husband and I, we spend so much time trying not to get frozen that we do not realize how much running around we are doing.
Hide and Go Seek
We have had to change hide and go seek a little from how we played it as children. We set boundaries as to where we can hide. We either hide in pairs or have one of the adults set out to keep an eye on everyone to make sure that everyone stays safe. There has to be a base in the middle of the playground where people who are hiding can run in order to be safe from being caught. The pair or person who are 'it' stands at the base and covers their eyes and counts to 30 to give everyone time to hide. When they are done counting they yell 'ready or not here I come!' and start to look for the people who are hiding. The goal of the game is to get to the base before you are found. The hiders have to keep an eye out for the person who is 'it' and run for the base when they are not looking. Whoever is found first or is the last person to get to the base without being tagged is 'it' for the next round.
There are other parents that look at us like we are crazy out there running around with our children. I personally would not have it any other way. Playing these games not only keeps my husband and I in space it gives us quality time with our children and makes lasting memories for our family.
