The only difference is that in this movie, you will find more raunchiness than found in your typical rated R movie. Not to mention a bag full of foul language. So it is for certain not for those who are quick to become offended.
The Family Guy (The T.V. Show)
In the Griffin house you will find: two teenagers Chris Griffin (Seth Green) and Megan Griffin (Mila Kunis), a cynical dog who is smarter than everyone else called Brian (Seth McFarlane), and a genius baby Stewie Griffin, who makes numerous attempts to get rid of his family (in a lethal form).
That, and planning for a future world domination. Leading in the fore front in this dysfunctional household is Lois (Alex Borstein) and Peter Griffin (Also voiced by Seth McFarlane) who are loving parents and an odd couple that is in love. Peter strives his best to care for his family, but tends to do it in the most bizzar ways and does things that end up in all of the towns gossip. You can think of them as a non-yellow version of The Simpsons that is less refined and tends to push the gross meter to its limit.
This Movie
Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, is an overblown version of the television show. Rather than it being 30 minutes like the show, it is more close to 90 minutes. Unlike the television show that pushes every boundary and any possible nasty meter, the movie goes beyond that and embraces everything found in Rated R movies. It is filled with sexual innuendo and filthy talking.
The movie is about Stewie, (the baby with early manic issues), and how he is distracted from him plotting a world take over. This occurs when he sees a man who is amazingly identical to him on television. He then becomes greatly convinced that he has found his real father.
After all (According to him...) how could he possibly share genetic material with his present, witt-impaired parent Peter?. Stewie then, begins a cross-country trip (by jumping on the neighbors vehicle.. since he is also taking a cross country trip) to find his biological father. However, in his incredible journey it leads him to discoveries (far more shocking) than the things he left behind at home.
It is Very Funny
Now, its been repeated many times here that this is not for the easily offended (or the young). It is a cartoon but one for adults only. With that aside however, it is very funny and its freshness comes from an intellectual humor, that is often vacant in adult cartoon comedies. Like The Simpsons it does not lower down its jokes. It also has no fear to push the envelope. It is filled with an array of parodies that might not be known by all but are definitely funny.
In this movie the best part about it is the interaction between the dog Brian and Stewie. The sarcasm used by them is in it of itself a great heap of hilarity. If you are looking for nasty, gross, and outrageous jokes.. this movie is filled with that. It holds no limits and chases ever funny thing.. no matter if its making fun of terrorism or homosexuality.
So if you are looking for something that is different (or something "Bigger and Better") than the television series, then you will be disappointed. If you will be content with receiving a good dose of the hilarious comedy that is usually found in Family Guy, then you will be greatly satisfied. This movie is all Rated R all funny and truly maniacal like the main character Stewie who steals the show in this adult cartoon movie.
