Family Matters Actor Jaleel White Accused of Domestic Battery Against Bridget Hardy

TMZ is reporting actor Jaleel White, who became famous during the 90's by playing annoying neighbor Steve Urkel on ABC's "Family Matters", is accused of domestic battery against his estranged girlfriend.

According to a police report White is accused of physically abusing the mother of his ten month old daughter Bridget Hardy off and on during their relationship together. She is accusing the actor of punching her very hard in one of her breast implants while she was driving along the Pacific Coast Highway in July. Hardy claims he hit her so hard she lost control of the car while the baby was in the back seat.

Hardy also claims Jaleel continued to yell at her and taunt her until they returned home. When the pair got to their house Jaleel is accused of slapping Hardy several times while she tried to get out of the car and take the baby from the back seat. Once they were inside the house the fight continued in the bathroom where White is accused of pushing Hardy so hard she hit the toilet and broke it in half.

A publicist for Jaleel White quickly released a statement to major media outlets calling the allegations a lie and that there was "absolutely no battery, no abuse, and the incident never happened."

Calling the alleged incident "a ploy in an ongoing custody battle over their young daughter to tarnish his name" the publicist said the timing of the allegations was convenient with an upcoming court date over who is to gain custody of the young girl and whether she will be raised in California or Washington where he mother lives.

The incident happened two weeks ago, but Hardy said through a spokesperson she decided at the time not to seek medical attention and after some thought decided to press charges.

After Family Matters ended Jaleel White mostly kept a low profile in Hollywood and only recently has he started to make a comeback online with a 5 minute show he produces each week.
