Memorial Day is a very special observance that is celebrated on May 30th in the United States. Americans take this day to honor those who have served in the military forces and died in the line of duty. This is also a special time when families get together to honor the fallen. And a time that marks the change of the seasons. And in many communities this is also the day that many take to focus on the family and have Memorial Day parades and family picnics.

Family Barbecue - There is no excuse to not have a big family barbecue on Memorial Day. Bring out the barbecue. Barbecue hamburgers, hot dogs, or whatever you prefer. Serve a salad, fresh in season fruit, fruit punches. Don't forget to decorate the backyard, patio, or deck with the grand old flag in celebration of this special day and enjoy a great memorial day celebration.

Family Picnic - Celebrating Memorial Day should be a family affair. Some might prefer a family picnic in the backyard, at a local park. That's great too. Especially if thee community is throwing a Memorial Day celebration at a local park.

Beach Party - Memorial Day signals the start of summer fun for those who love the beach wind and surf life. Use this as the day to take the family to a nearby beach. Dress in shorts tank tops and sandals. Take along a beach umbrella and towel. Don't forget to bring along some music. Enjoy a family picnic on the beach in the fresh open air.

Memorial Day Parade - Many communities across the country honor fallen soldier who have died in the line of duty with a Memorial Day Celebration Parade through the center of town. Celebrate Memorial Day by attending the parade. And don't forget to bring along a few small flags to wave at the parade participants along with a digital camera or camcorder to record the event.

Tribute - Most communities across the nation have a memorial wall or statue dedicated to fallen soldiers. Take the time on Memorial Day to visit this site and honor the fallen soldiers. Bring a small flag to leave at the honor wall or statue. Kids might like to compose a short note thanking soldiers for their contribution and service to the nation.
