Family of Sand

anonymous
Like tender palms, they stroke me.

Cold and gray,

And ancient as the turbid, heaving froth,

Relentlessly churning.

Such violence!

What a turbulent, agitated residence

For such tranquil, docile palms.

They lie in silence and stillness.

Barely glittering as the pale light shifts.

I know each individual to be inherently irregular,

Yet all appear inexplicably uniform.

For there is only one legion

One family

Of sand.

Beautiful, poignant, a powerful metaphor... These lines especially resonated..

"I know each individual to be inherently irregular,

    Yet all appear inexplicably uniform."

To me it spoke of how we all have our flaws, and somehow feel so alone in them, yet when we take the time to be with one another, we find we are not alone...our pains, fears, "irregularities" all are a little different, but once we get to the core...we all find a common bond.

    exquisite! thank you...
