Family Spring Break "Staycation" Destinations in Tampa, Florida

Erin Rivera
These days many families are choosing to stay close to home during their vacation time. Reasons being for this growing trend can be the result of them trying to stick to a budget or perhaps they find it an easier option due to having a small infant. No matter what the reason, choosing a staycation can be just as fun and relaxing as going away for a vacation. Here are some great destinations to consider for families who choose to have a "staycation" for spring break in Tampa Florida.

1. Busch Gardens. Located right in Tampa Busch Gardens is a perfect choice for families who are looking to stay local and have a staycation. Busch Gardens is an amusement park that has something for everyone! They offer a number of different rides and roller coasters for kids, teens and adventurous adults as well as the charming Dragon Land and Sesame Street Safari for younger children and toddlers. In addition to the rides there are plenty of other activities for families to take part in. There is lots to see and it would take a good day or two to get to experience it all which is perfect since Busch Gardens offers local residents a great deal where if they buy one visit they get the second visit free. Ticket prices for adults run around $75 while kids tickets prices are just under $65. For more information you can visit their web site at: http://buschgardens.com/Bgt/

2. Clearwater Beach. During the past few years Clearwater beach has gone through many changes and these changes have made it one of the most family friendly beaches in Florida. Just a short drive from Tampa, Clearwater beach is a great destination for families who want to have a staycation and that may be on a budget. Besides having beautiful waters Clearwater also has other amenities families will appreciate. They have a special play area just for kids and it is nearby lots of affordable restaurants and shops. During spring break families will also get to experience festivals and other activities on Pier 60. There are also special tours done nearby such as dolphin watching and even a special pirate cruise! During spring break it is very crowded so families will want to get there early and will need money to pay for parking. For more information: http://www.visitclearwaterflorida.com/

3. Disney World.
Located right near Orlando, Disney World is just a little more than a hour away from Tampa making it another excellent choice for a staycation. While Disney World is another amusement park that has something for everyone it is the number one choice for families where they have infants or small children because it is so kid friendly. Here families can see all the famous attractions such as the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, It's a Small World or even the Haunted Mansion. Children will love it and parents will like it because they can still go home at the end of the day. Disney World also offers special discounted ticket prices for Florida residents. Right now tickets for adults are priced at under $75 and children's tickets are at $64. Families will likely fare better by purchasing the special Florida resident 3 day pass especially during spring break when it is likely to be more crowded.
