There are many different events for family theater entertainment in San Diego during the holidays. From The Nutcracker Ballet to other venues, taking the whole family out will be entertaining.

Holiday Plays & Musicals: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life and Junie B. Jingle Bells Batman Smells

The Old Globe Theater will have Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas live play. How The Grinch Stole Christmas live play is open to all ages, so the younger crowd can enjoy it and be welcomed into the art of live theater. The Globe Theater will be transformed into Whoville for everyone to enjoy. This special runs from November 20th to December 26th.

It's a Wonderful Life will be showcased at San Diego First Assembly. The screenplay is written by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich. This runs three days: December 10th at 7pm, December 11th at 6pm, and on December 12th at 6pm.

Children who read the Junie B. book series will enjoy knowing that Junie B. Jones will have her own play. Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! and will run from December 3rd to the 19th at the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse.

Holiday Ballet: The Nutcracker Christmas Ballet

The Nutcracker Ballet is playing at the Spreckels Theatre, from December 10th to the 19th. Two Saturdays, December 11 and December 18, the Sugar Plum Fairy from the ballet will be on hand to visit guests at the Bristol Hotel.

The Nutcracker Ballet will also be featured through the California Center for the Arts Escondido. This will be put on by the West Coast Balley Theatre. The Nutcracker: Experience Christmas Through a Child's Eyes, from December 17th to the 18th.

Live Music: Musical Quartet and Advent Concert

The Old Globe Theater will have Plaid Tidings: A Special Holiday Edition of Forever Plaid. Plaid Tidings will showcase a holiday quartet singing songs from the 1950s and the 1960s, and will sing favorite holiday songs as well. This event will run from November 27th to December 26th.

Go to the Advent Choral Concert at the First United Methodist Church of San Diego. St. Nicolas, Magnificant, December 5th at 7pm, with the pre-concert lecture occurring at 6:15pm. Their Christmas Carol Sing Along will happen on December 8th, at 6:45pm at the Linder Lounge.
