The Columbian Park Zoo is also an ideal family vacation idea, as it offers both children and adults an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural world of animals. The zoo currently houses almost 200 animals from almost 80 different species, including llamas, various species of monkeys, a number of reptiles, and many more. Although they don't have quite as many animals as some of the larger zoos, they are nevertheless very kid-friendly, and they offer a number of educational programs that make it an excellent choice for parents who want a safe and also enriching experience for their children. Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum
If someone in the family is a history buff, then the Lafayette area has you covered there as well, since the Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum nearby. Built to educate people about the momentous battle that took place here (which effectively pushed Native Americans out of the Midwest,) the museum contains numerous display and collections, including an historic firearms display. Picnic grounds and walking trails are also available, making this an all-around good choice for family vacationers.
