Arrr matey! International Talk Like a Pirate Day happens every year on September 19 and why not observe this special day with some great pirate movies? Check out this list of family-friendly pirate movies that will make your celebration complete.

"Cutthroat Island" stars Geena Davis as a female pirate who is searching for treasure. She teams up with her educated slave Matthew Modine to find the three parts of the treasure map and along the way experiences adventure, romance and lots of pirate fun.

"Pirates of the Caribbean (Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End)" showcases Johnny Depp as unforgettable scalawag, Captain Jack Sparrow. The adventures of these pirates and their non-pirate cohorts are great fun and are favorites for Talk Like a Pirate Day and any day around my house.

"Muppets Treasure Island" is great family fun - as all Muppet movies are. This one features familiar Muppet characters and well-known actors Tim Curry as Long John Silver and Billy Connolly as Billy Bones. Based upon the classic novel, this is "Treasure Island" with a twist. Whatever the Muppets do, they turn beloved tales into fun for the whole family (whether it's "A Christmas Carol," "The Wizard of Oz" or "Treasure Island") and this one is no different.

"Treasure Planet" is another telling of "Treasure Island." This animated film from Disney tells the story of young Jim Hawkins and pirates in outer space with strange space creatures and a planet full of mysterious treasure. It features music from the Goo Goo Dolls and is a great addition to a pirate movie list.

"The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggietales Movie" combines produce and pirates. Yes, it's Veggietales in a fun pirate adventure for the whole family. Three misfit fruits and veggies are transported backward in time where they become pirates and learn a valuable lesson. Veggietales have long been a favorite around my house and the song that first introduced these crazy pirates (We are the pirates, who don't do anything - we just stay home and lie around; if you ask us to do anything, we'll tell you - we don't do anything!) is a song that is still sung around my home by Mom and kids alike. Okay, yeah, mostly Mom.

"Scooby-Doo! Pirates Ahoy!" Scooby and the gang take a cruise that turns into hijacked hijinx on the high seas. Ghost pirates, the Bermuda Triangle and aliens all slosh together in this fun pirate adventure.

This year, don't just talk like a pirate on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, watch some memorable movies too and make it fun for the whole family.
