Famous Celebrity Parent Feuds

Andrea Coventry
Parents and children are going to have arguments. It's almost like a rite of passage. If they are celebrities, they will do it out in the open. Here are some of the top celebrity family feuds between parents and children.

A.J. Lamas and Lorenzo Lamas

It is great when fathers and sons share the same interests. But A.J. Lamas took things a little too far when he had an affair with his soap star father's wife. Lorenzo Lamas, who is famous for his characters' amorous affairs on Falcon Crest and The Bold and the Beautiful supposedly had no idea that his model wife, Shauna Sand, was engaged in a licentious liaison in real life with his son, back in 2002.

The two became estranged, yet somehow ended up filming a reality TV show together. A main focus was the estrangement. Shauna Sand claims that the affair never happened, and that it was made up simply for the reality show. Though, one has to wonder how much to believe someone who is selling her own sex tape?

Angelina Jolie and John Voight

Angelina Jolie has never publicly revealed exactly why she is so angry with actor father Jon Voight. He claims it stems from his divorce from her mother. The relationship between the two ebbs and flows. For a while, Voight wasn't even allowed to see his own grandchildren. He has made numerous public pleas to his daughter to share her family with him and for her to seek mental help. Angelina legally removed her father's last name from her name as a response.

The two claim they still love each other, and are always connected as family. They may be in touch from time to time. One would hope that someone who proclaims such a fondness for family would find a way to make things work out!

Drew Barrymore and Jaid Barrymore

Child star Drew Barrymore had her share of ups and downs, partially fueled by her partying mother, Jaid Barrymore. Jaid used to take her preteen daughter to bars and clubs. There, Drew was introduced to the world of drinking and drugs, forcing early stints in rehab. At the age of 13, presumably to save her own life, Drew became legally emancipated from her mother.

It was a smart move on Drew's part. She has gotten her life together, and for the past twenty-some years has starred in numerous roles and been part of a successful beauty campaign.

Her relationship with her mother continues to be strained. But she wishes to keep the issues private. Why publicly discuss something she can't even yet process?

Eminem and Debbie Nelson

Eminem thrives on controversy. Take, for example, his latest album release, which includes him rapping about beating the woman he loves, and Rhianna singing about how much she "loves the way it hurts." He is actually against domestic violence, but this, and other songs, reflect some of his family history. His "white trash" history, which fuels his intense rapping style, has gotten him into on over ten-year feud with his mother, Debbie Nelson.

The two have been battling it out in the media for years. Eminem regularly refers to his mother in his raps. Debbie retaliated by releasing her own album, as well as writing a memoir that supposedly attempts to set the record straight. He refuses to bow to her demands for reconciliation, as she is supposedly dying. Let the controversy continue.

Jennifer Aniston and Nancy Dow

In 1998, Jennifer Aniston was riding high on the waves of success with her portrayal of "Rachel" in the NBC sitcom Friends. Unfortunately, Mom, actress Nancy Dow, took advantage of this and published a book called, From Mother and Daughter to Friends. In this book, she revealed numerous intimate details of Jennifer's life, which she had wanted to keep private. The book added insult to injury after Dow had also spilled some of the beans during a TV interview in 1996.

The estranged relationship between the two lasted for about ten years. Dow was not invited to Aniston's wedding to actor Brad Pitt. After Aniston's split from Pitt, though, she turned to her mother for solace. The two continue to enjoy an amicable relationship.

Lindsay Lohan and Michael Lohan

Misguided child star Lindsay Lohan has never really left her childish ways. Whether it is mysteriously flashing not-so-secret messages to judges via her fingernails or partying like it's her job and getting DUIs, LiLo is constantly in trouble. She even childishly publicly chides her father, Michael Lohan on a regular basis, claiming he abused her mother Dina Lohan. She has also said he introduced her to some of her vices. Michael, who served a brief jail stint, has blamed Dina for their daughter's outrageous behavior.

Michael and Lindsay have been fighting for years, slamming each other to paparazzi and reporters. LiLo even regularly posts about him on her Twitter account. There is even talk of restraining orders against him and lawsuits against her.

Meg Ryan and Susan Jordan

Actress Meg Ryan could not forgive her mother, Susan Jordan, for divorcing her father. Later, when Ryan was involved with actor Dennis Quaid, her mother disapproved. Things were so bad between the two, that Ryan would not allow her mother to meet her baby son.

Paul Teutul, Jr. and Paul Teutul, Sr.

Paul Teutul, Jr. and his father, Paul Teutul, Sr., are stars of the TV show American Chopper, which is about motorcycles. He recently married fiancee Rachael in a New Jersey wedding the weekend of August 21st. His own father was a no-show.

Apparently, the two have been battling it out for stock options in their joint company, Orange County Choppers Holdings, Inc. since at least December of 2009. This does not bode well for their relationship, nor their company. But feuds can always boost ratings!

Tori Spelling and Candy & Aaron Spelling

Tori Spelling made it big on Dear Daddy Aaron Spelling's show Beverly Hills, 90210 back in the 1990s. Years later, though, the two became embroiled in a bitter feud as Tori publicly accused her mother, Candy Spelling of being a "Mommie Dearest," dominating woman. Tori also accused her mother of not spending enough time with Aaron while he was dying. When Aaron passed away in 2006, he only left her a very small fraction of his massive fortune. This probably has a lot to do with taking on her reality shows Tori and Dean.

Tori has recently been seen trying to patch her relationship with her mother. Supposedly, they even spent Christmas and Mother's Day together. But Candy still avoids things like her grandchildren's birthday parties, for fear that she will be filmed for Tori's reality show.

Joan Crawford and Christina Crawford

Speaking of "Mommie Dearest," Christina Crawford basically fought her adoptive actress mother, Joan Crawford, from the day she was born. They were off to a bad start, as it was, as the agency from which Joan adopted Christina was accused of being a black market baby ring. Christina was subjected to some of the worst abuse imaginable. After Joan passed away in 1977, Christina released her book, Mommie Dearest that detailed all of the abuse suffered by her and her brother, both of whom were excluded from the will. To this day, children who think their mothers are being overly oppressive resort to calling their mothers, "Mommie Dearest," just to get a rise out of them.
