A Surprising List of Cleveland Pride

It is time to showcase some of the most famous people from Cleveland. People that formed the rock and roll revolution, a heart in comedy, dancers, actors and actresses, athletes, businessmen, musicians, and many more will appear below. I had no clue that many of the people I mention were from Cleveland.

Since Cleveland is considered one of the top manufacturing and service productions cities, I would like to provide you with some of the most celebrated names in business, marketing, and promotions.
-Don King is the most famous boxing promoter around.
-Joseph Eaton is the founder of Eaton Corps.
-James A. Garfield was the nations twentieth president.
-George Steinbrenner III is the most famous baseball owner around, of course he owns the New York Yankees.
-John D. Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil.
-Vernon Stouffer was the founder of Stouffer Foods.
-Henry Sherwin was the founder of Sherwin Paints.

Ending with paints, I will start off this next section with famous artists, writers, and directors.
-Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created the most famous superhero to date, Superman.
-Tom Wilson was the artist for Ziggy and Calvin and Hobbes.
-Archibald Willard was the artist of the Spirit of '76.
-Dorothy Fuldheim was a reporter and newscaster.
-Ross Hunter was a movie producer.
-Langston Hughes was our most famous poet.
-Wes Craven is the master of horror, most notably as the director for The Nightmare On Elm Street.
-Toni Morrison was the 1933 Nobel Prize winner for literature.
-Carl Stokes was the first African American mayor.

Next, I will guide you through a tour of notable musicians.
-Alan Freed was the disc jockey that coined the phrase "rock and roll."
-Henry Mancini was most famous for the music of the Pink Panther.
-The O'Jays had hits with "Love Train" and "For The Love of Money."
-Joe Walsh was one of the original members of the Eagles.
-Sammy Kaye was a bandleader with more than 100 hits during World War II.
-Ray Anthony and Traci Chapman are other notable musicians in Cleveland.

This leads us to famous actors and actresses from Cleveland.
-Halle Berry, of course, won her Oscar for Monster's Ball.
-Dorothy Dandridge was the first African American woman to receive and Oscar nomination.
-Paul Newman won an Oscar for his performance in The Color of Money.
-Other notable actors and actresses from Cleveland include Debra Winger, Patricia Heaton, Ruby Dee, Anne Heche, Monica Potter, Lillian Gish, Jim Backus, Joel Grey, and Burgess Meredith.

We have some of the most famous talk show hosts as well.
-Phil Donahue received 19 Emmy nods.
-Mike Douglas was a hit during the 70's.
-Arsenio Hall gained fame as a comedian and later as a night time talk show host. Probably most famous for Coming To America, with Eddie Murphy.

Speaking of comedians.
-Bob Hope won 5 Special and Honorary Oscars, but will always be remembered for bringing laughter to our soldiers.
-Tim Conway is famous for his work with Carol Burnett and Don Knotts.
-Molly Shannon is most notable for her work on Saturday Night Live and the use of her phrase, "superstar."
-Steve Harvey is another of our featured Kings Of Comedy.
-Drew Carrey made being overweight, having four eyes, and being bald funny.

We also have our accompished athletes here in Cleveland.
-Don Shula was a coach for the Baltimore Colts and the Miami Dolphins.
-Jesse Owens went to Germany and made a mockery of the German athletes.
-Ben Curtis was the 2003 PGA British Open champion.
-Tris Speaker was a famous baseball player.
-Jim Brown was the greatest running back to ever live, before landing his role in the Dirty Dozen.
-John Heisman is the man the Heisman Trophy was named after.
-Cy Young was the most dominant pitcher in baseball. He is honored every year with a Cy Young award being given to the best pitcher each year.

That rounds out my list of notable Clevelanders, for now, however someone new is always bound to surface from anonymity again.
